“great restaurant”
Reviewed August 2, 2013

I'd say that this is one of the top fine dining places in SE Asia. The food is French, but has an Asian fusion influence. My favorite dish is the Steak Tartar, which comes with quail’s yolk and parmesan crisp. Service was excellent, and the atmosphere was nice. Although pricy compared to other restaurants in KL, when compared to other same level restaurants in the Asian region, it is not so bad.

“A Super Fine Gastronomy Experience”
Reviewed May 2, 2013

I first tried Cilantro 10 years ago and I was impressed. The food was French with a Japanese influence cooked to perfection. 10 years had passed and I ventured into Cilantro wondering if it had maintained that unforgettable dining experience. Wow, I was again floored by the lovingly prepared, unexpected and delicious cuisine personally prepared by Chef Takashi. Cilantro had kept up with time and the food had evolved to much finer and very creative use of fine ingredients. Service was flawless. To ensure that each dinner receive the best dining experience, Cilantro only accept a limited number of reservations per night to the level that the kitchen and serving staff are able to deliver their best performance. Well Done Cilantro!

“Great but not brilliant”
Reviewed April 28, 2013

Our 4th visit, still great but not brilliant this time. Let's be honest, this is not a cheap restaurant so expected to pay a bit more but with that kind of quality of food, it's definitely worth it. The restaurant decor is simple and quiet. Staff were all helpful and was able to explain the menu. The same sommelier we met when we first visit and he's very friendly and recommended us the wine. Food were awesome. From appetizer to dessert, all tasty and well presented. One thing we hope they will improve is the dress code. It's a nice restaurant but tee shirt and jeans or flip-flop should not be allowed. But otherwise, we had a lovely evening and this is still top of my restaurant list.

“Of average quality, but really overpriced food”
Reviewed April 18, 2013

When we first sat down, little servings of truffle butter was placed on the table, with bread (not homemade), the butter wasnt slated and the truffles were overpowering. Obviously used too much truffle oil. after a while, i literally got a headache cos it was too strong. I chose the 4 course menu - 2 appetisers, 1 entree, and 1 dessert. One og the starters was a lobster souffle - not very flavorful, the other one was a risotto with tarabagani(some type of crab) - decent but not excellent. For mains was a poussin with truffles. when it arrived, all was on the plate was a slice of breast, and a little confit leg, and some truffle foam ( the menu stated truffle, not truffle foam, so i was disappointed), it was quite nice. dessert was a trio of valrhona chocolate - ice cream, some small cake, and another thing(didnt know wat it was, but it had almonds on it), it was quite nice as well, but again not superb. Overall, the portions they gave were quite small , asu'd expect in a fine dining restaurant. But for the price they charge - something like almost rm300 or something per person, u would expect a great meal, but i guess it wasnt to be. It was by no means bad, but merely average. Our waiter was v helpful, explaining everything we asked. when we asked to see the chef while having our dessert, the waiter said he had gone home already ( doesnt really say much abt his dedication to the job, does it?) All in all, if u have money to spend, i'm not discouraging u from visiting. but if u're looking for an amazing meal, i wouldnt suggest it. really not a value for money.

“The staff is quite rude”
Reviewed April 11, 2013

There are a lot of 'rule' to follow, the customer can not change the table if the air con is cold, can not share the food....Somehow, the staff gives an impression that they are overvalue themselves. There are more good restaurants in KL compared to Cilantro and not worth the price.
