“Great all around!”
Reviewed February 2, 2014 via mobile

Sunshine Bedz is in a great location, right at Bukit Bintang and near the metro. Alot of bars, eateries and shopping nearby. The dorm rooms were clean and new. Big lockers in the room were great too. The small breakfast feed was a bonus too. Highly recommend!

We picked this backpackers based on some excellent recommendations on Trip Advisor and Hostel Bookings websites. We were a little disappointed in the lack of atmosphere, while the front counter and staff were very friendly there wasn't a lot of avenues for meeting other travellers and finding out about what to do in the area.

The room was of a very decent size, with a sink and shower included but oddly no toilet. This was not a problem at all, although in the already humid KL it did lead to quite a moist room.

Fantastically located hostel right in Bukit Bintang. We had a private room with a queen bed that was facing the street. The area seems to be eternally under construction (workers were drilling after midnight), so definitely bring ear plugs and you'll sleep like a baby. Our private room included a shower (hot water, just keep the water pressure down on the lower side for it to work) and a sink so you can brush your teeth. All of the bathrooms are shared towards the back of the hostel.

Patrick is a really friendly guy, speaks fantastic English, and is quick to crack a joke or two. The other staff however, are not as friendly nor helpful. Patrick is who really made our stay here great.

The location is one of the best things this hostel as going for it. It's literally across the street from the Bukit Bintang monorail station. You can take the monorail to a lot of different sights, Petronas Towers and Chinatown, or to KL Sentral to Little India and also to transfer to the express train to get to Batu Caves.

A lot of taxi drivers aren't aware of this place so you can tell them to take you to McDonalds at Bukit Bintang. Then just look to the right of McDonalds and you will see the sign for Sunshine Bedz above a stairway. One thing that was interesting was that there are no shoes allowed in the hostel. You keep them outside or in your room, but everyone walks around barefoot (it's carpeted though).

If we're ever in the area again, we would definitely stay here!

Room Tip: Street noise from the rooms facing the front street. Bring ear plugs!

This hostel is in a brilliant location right in the center of bukit bintang. The rooms are clean and air conditioned and shower room is decent. However, the social area/reception/kitchen area is very cramped with a lot of bags lying around(since there is not enough space in some of the rooms for bags). It's a good place to stay for a few nights because of the location but wouldn't recommend it for any longer if you like to have some space to chill out.

It was my first time to Malaysia, and I chose KL and Sunshine Bedz to start with.

The location could not be better! It's about two minutes' walk from the Bukit Bintang monotrail stop (and that's a direct link to Sentral Station where the airport train ends). The monorail intersects to other train lines which can get you to almost anywhere! There are more shopping malls there than you could ever want. There are pubs and restaurants all around. Indeed, Jalan Alor is only three minutes away and there you can eat excellent food at reasonable prices. And there's a good laundry service right there as well. So location is probably THE best in KL!

Facilities in the hostel are excellent. The beds are comfortable. The rooms are quiet (unless a bunch of delinquent american students roll in at 02h30 and create mayhem, but that's not a reflection of the hostel at all!). The bathrooms and toilets are cleaned frequently. The common area is not air conditioned (the bedrooms are, obviously), but with tables and chairs around this is a fantastic place to socialise, compare notes, plan excursions, and make new friends! And their little self-service kitchen provides for a simple but good breakfast.

The staff are helpful and friendly. They provided accurate answers to several questions from myself and others. They have a couple of PCs for your connection to those not traveling with you, and to dump photos from SD cards to flash drives and to book tours, air tickets, and so on as well (indeed, Facebook, Air Asia, and Gmail are the most popular sites on their PCs!). And when that bunch of delinquents caused a ruckus when the rest of the hostel was asleep, the management responded rapidly (as in within a minute!) and professionally to address the problem.

The only drawback here is the physical location within the building, and what lies between them and the rest of the world! The hostel is on the second floor. The first floor is occupied by a den of ill repute run by a woman of ill appearance! She and her harem of "ladies" block the entrance and you'll need to slither through them to gain access to the hostel. I lost count how many times they offered me "massaj" and I rejected it. They just don't learn! But if you can handle this inconvenience, I definitely do recommend Sunshine Bedz when in KL! I plan to return to KL and to Sunshine Bedz, so please leave a bed open for me! :-)

Getting there it's easy, just point to the taxi the road and tell them to stop near the Mc Donald's, they will know better and you will struggle less :)
The entrance is actually quite hidden between 2 shops, a small door with stairs. The sign is outside, just looked a bit for it you should not miss it. Stairs to go up are slightly small and could be a bit difficult if you have a big backpack and specially if you've kind of a big suitcase as you'll need to go up for a couple of floors. you can see the main door of the hostel when you get to a pile of shows and flip-flops (kinda smelly as well), as everybody needs to take off shows when getting in. Inside everything is very clean. The 6x female dorm was nicely chilled and the bed was really comfy. Bathroom area is nice as well. Best thing is that you have a plug for every bed and is actually a multi one, so most country plugs will work just fine! Overall a very nice and friendly place.

Room Tip: Lower bed was of course the best one!

The room I stayed in was nice and clean but the lady at reception wasn't helpfull at all, she told me nothing about wifi, toilets/showers, or breakfast.. The only thing she did was show me to my room and left. And when I later asked her about transport to other cities, she answered me with a shrug.. Next time i'm definetley going to Paradiso B&B right next door, which has lovely and helpful staff!
