“Nice inside, outside hell”
Reviewed March 11, 2013

We stayed at the nest for a total 3 nights. We were very concerned when our taxi pulled up outside to check in, as the street and surrounding streets it is located in are absolutely filthy. Not only are they filthy but they were full of garbage, stray cats and the smell emanating from the drains was enough to make anyone puke. Once inside we were relieved to find the staff warming and friendly and our deluxe room was spacious and clean with an excellent AC system. The bathroom was not very good due to being far too small and the shower being located over the toilet. Despite the nest being located on a filthy street the location is ideal to visit nice shopping malls and the famous twin towers.

Dear TRIPMCFC, thank you for your review. Unfortunately, many cities in SE Asia (except Singapore) have not yet reached the same level of cleanliness as e.g. western Europe. A clean environment starts with an environmentally-minded conscience - something that still needs to grow with the average man in the street. Our guesthouse is located on a road with old residential buildings. Unfortunately, garbage containers are still rare in all KL. So twice a week residents put their garbage bags along the streets for later collection. And some people still follow the habit of dropping this and that on the ground. This is certainly not ideal nor very appealing. Nevertheless we are not sure if the word "hell" describes the situation accurately. The image of KL matters to the authorities, not least because of the forthcoming "Visit Malaysia Year 2014". You - as a traveler - can make an important contribution towards a cleaner KL by sharing your experience with city hall (DBKL) and the Tourism Authority of Malaysia. We strongly believe that the feedback of tourists matters (more so than that of local business owners) as millions of visitors play an important role in fueling Malaysia's economy.

My first trip to KL began with a warm welcome at THE NEST. Throughout the stay I felt taken care of in a wonderful and personal way, the staff was always attantive and helpful with valued information about the city and giving me tips where to go and waht to do. A big THANK YOU to Vanessa and Ross on this behalf! Would love to stay at THE NEST again on my next visit to KL!

Room Tip: If you do not/cannot walk too many steps choose a room on second floor as no elevator in the house.

Nice guesthouse close to Bukit Bintang. The street probably is relatively quiet normally as it is only a couple blocks long, but we stayed over Chinese New Year. It's only a few blocks from Jalan Alor, the main street food place. A couple blocks the opposite way and you're at public transit. The staff at the guesthouse are very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: The deluxe double was quite large but the ensuite bathroom was tiny (it's the kind where you can...

This is our second stay at The Nest, and we think it's a wonderful little place to stay. It's very clean and the location, right in the heart of Bukit Bintang, can't be beat. The internet works very well on all three floors, and being able to make coffee or tea anytime is a real plus. The staff are great, very accommodating and friendly. Breakfast is good, although roti canai just up at the corner is our favourite. We think it is excellent value for money. We'd stay here again.

Room Tip: We stayed in 24 on our second night, and liked it very much. Then we moved to 35, which is also goo...

This comfy guesthouse is a few minutes by foot from the Raja Chulan monorail stop and located in a friendly neighborhood. You are only a few minutes walk to many restaurants and bars, as well as a multitude of outside eating establishments/food hawkers along a nearby street. The huge Pavillion shopping center is within walking distance as well.

The staff are incredibly helpful in every way and the facilities are clean and well maintained. Continental breakfast is pretty much toast and cereal but included in the room cost. Make sure you try their "kaya" on your toast; it's a coconut and butter jam which is quite good.

The only drawback is the "view" of the cross street from rooms facing that side, including occasional overflowing dumpsters and a porch across the street with an old pigeon cage. If you are not squeamous about that sort of thing, or can avoid looking out the window, The Nest is an ideal place to snuggle in for a few days.

Room Tip: Rooms on the same level as the kitchen area can be a little noisy in the morning, as people are gett...

I stayed in the Nest last September. I stayed in a single room for 4 days. Just a small room but it was really comfortable (even the room is small and really match up with its name, Nest). I enjoyed the breakfast the Nest had provided. I felt I was at home with the self service breakfast. Cornflakes, bread, banana etc. Oh I like the local jam, Kaya. :)

Thankful to the hotel staff, especially the one at the front desk, who gave me so much information about Malaysia and also with his wonderful suggestions I made a great solo trip there.

Dear winhtoo, great to get your feedback here on TA. When we hear from our guests that they enjoyed their stay with us and that they liked our friendly, service-minded staff, it means a lot to us. We are all humans and so we all need a little motivation for our work. No doubt, great reviews like yours do the trick and make us try even harder to provide "feel-good" accommodation in downtown KL. Cheers, your Nest Team :-)
