“Reasonable hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 25, 2012

This hotel is a solid 3 star quality. The location is reasonably good, about a 5 - 10 minute walk from the shops on bukit bintang.

Rooms are slightly run down, carpets are stained and the floors in the room could be cleaner. No hand towels were provided, and we had to ask 3 times to get an additional towel. Breakfast was good if you like Indian food, however we prefer chinese breakfast, for which the options were limited.

There is a functional gym, it is very small with almost no weights, however the 2 treadmills work well.

Next time I will probably spend a bit more for a better hotel, but if this is the limit of your budget it isnt a bad choice.

I cannot fault our family's 5 day stay at this Hotel. 2 Bedroom apartment was clean and spacious.
The staff couldn't do any more to make us welcome the food was excellent and not expensive.
It is central to most things and close to the Mono rail stn.
Overal 10/10 and would stay again.

Room Tip: Stay on a high level to avoid traffic noise at night.

We arrived on the 16 March, staying for 3 nights in a one bedroom apartment. Room was excellent, clean and comfortable. We found the staff very approachable and our requests were dealt with in an efficient and helpful manner. Any staff we came into contact with were courteous especially in the restaurant. On our first night we had dinner in the restaurant, we'd travelled from Singapore by train and we were just too tired to go out. My husband enjoyed his meal so much we also ate there on a second night when our son came up to KL to meet us. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, the location is excellent, about a 10/15 minute walk down to Chinatown and the market. Tourist bus stop was difficult to find, but took a taxi to Petronis Towers and picked it up there. We enjoyed our visit to KL, found it an interesting and enjoyable experience, the people we met were friendly and welcoming.

We stayed here in Oct'11 for 3 nights. We were given a good 2br residence with a good view of the city.
Proximity to the Bukit Bintang is a great plus!

The rooms and linen were clean. Though the kitchenette lacked the necessary elements like basic pans and pots, we managed to get them on request and did have our very own coffee and quick meals.
this place is worth, if you travelling as a big family or group!!

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floors !!

I don’t usually give review but If i could, i would give this hotel and the staffs a negative rating. Travelled in a group of 5 (booking a 2 bedroom apartment) and reached the hotel at 12 pm. Despite requesting for early checked in, we were not given the room as it was not available yet. We don’t mind waiting but the attitude of the staff was horrible. When we showed him the hotel voucher, he seem surprise on why are are we checking in at that time and told us that there are no room while pointing to a group of traveler, saying that others are also waiting and we should just wait. His attitude was very very poor and does not seem willing to serve us. We asked for a estimation of time, he reply he don't know, we asked if we could leave our number behind and that if he could call us when there are rooms, he said no he would forget.
Other hotel would probably check in your name, let you leave your baggage there, go take a walk and be back at a certain time, but not this hotel, they simply ask you to wait there in the lobby. We waited for half an hour more before we request to leave our bag there as we could not stand waiting there like some idiot.

We went out for an hour and finally got a room at almost 2pm. We were told that the baggage would be sent to our room but we waited for almost an hour and nothing was sent up, despite 2 phone call and asking the housekeeper. In the end, we went down and saw the baggage still at the holding area, untouched and with no intention of being sent up.

We requested for addition bed during the reservation through hotelclub and I even emailed the hotel 2 weeks before to confirm that there will be no additional charges when we reach there. However, not only did we not get the bed, we were told to pay extra 200 plus rm for two night. We did not give in and I requested to speak to the duty manager. Miss rini, to her credit, came to our room in a short while and listen to my feedback on all the previous issues. Although she seems understanding, all she could do was provide an extra blanket and pillow for our extra person who has to sleep on the couch.

Just when we thought that was the all of the problem, more incident happen that made me regret so much coming to this hotel. The first day breakfast was fine but on the 2nd day, we went down at 9am and saw that the restaurant was packed and was told To leave our name and room number to place a reservation so that they could call us when they have a table for us. Waited for half an hour but there was nothing. We went down at 10am (the breakfast ends at 1030am) and saw that there was a long queue and it is still packed. We ask the same waitress regarding the booking and she actually has the cheek to reply that they do not make reservation for breakfast and we have to join the queue if we want to eat. Finally the manager saw us and got one table for us after he saw us talking to her. Everyone else was panicking and grabbing all the food they could as the breakfast ends in half an hour and all there was left was sausage, bee hoon and toast. We paid so much for the breakfast and this is all we got?
I have never seen a hotel so unorganise, the staffs were rushing about, and most of them seem at a loss of what to do, did they not foresee such problem beforehand?

Later that night, we went for a drink at the blue chip lounge, which was suppose to close at 1am. The waitress came over at 1220, leave the bill at our table and walked away. We got the hint and paid the bill immediately. There was suppose to be some change given back but we waited for 15 minutes and nothing was given. We went to the counter asking for the receipts and the same waitress gave a irritated face and mumble something while digging the receipt out of the rubbish bin. The manager asked her if she gave us back the change and she actually said yes. That was really the last straw for us and we simply took the receipt and walked away, feeling that there is no point arguing with them.
The only positive thing i could say is the nice pool and room (although it was quite poorly maintained even thought this hotel was quite new). The staff (especially the receptionist) does not match the standard of the hotel and i feel this is worse than a 3 star hotel. I will definitely not return again.

Dear valued guest,

Thank you for staying with us in April 2012. We have noted your comments and it is sincerely regretted that the overall experience and service level at the Residences was not up to your expectation and most importantly did little to reflect the premier service standards that we deliver to our guests.

To prevent re-occurrences, we have taken a few preventive measures such as reaffirming the standards amongst our service staff through our continuous training programmes.
Rest assured, we will continuously improve the quality of services rendered in
Swiss-Garden Hotel & Residences Kuala Lumpur.

We thank you for your constructive comments and we certainly hope you will accord us
with the opportunity to be of service during your next trip as well as grace us with your continuous support.

Thank you

Stayed here with family, in a 1-bedroom Premier suite. The room is designed for 3 people on the outset, so the proper third bed in addition to the requisite double bed was very comfortable and not a hurried, 'extra bed' affair. Rooms are nicely appointed with the usual LCD TV and iPod dock. The kitchen has a microwave as well as the refrigerator which is very useful for heating up quick snacks. Stayed on the 9th floor in the North Tower, however the room view was not very appealing, looking out onto an office block, which is common in KL. The hotel's location is absolutely fabulous, being in walking distance to Bukit Bintang, Pavilion, and now KLCC (via the new Pavilon-KLCC link walkway).

Staff overall were fairly friendly and helpful, even calling the reception at 2 in the morning prior to checkout were greeted with a cheery "how may I help you?". The restaurant breakfast buffet is alright, but could do with a wider selection of dishes. Food was quite tasty. The pool and gym looked clean and neat too.

One negative point is that the room doors are not thick enough to sufficiently block out sound from the corridor outside, with the result that guests waiting for the elevators can be heard well inside the rooms (and we were in a corner room too, so those closer to the middle will have it worse).

The free wi-fi throughout the stay, with authentication for up to two devices (computers, mobile phones, tablets, etc...) is a nice touch. The system is well developed, you only need to enter the login information once (unlike some hotels where you need to enter it each time you log on).

Would definitely return to this place as it is a relatively new building, the rooms are clean, Housekeeping service is quite efficient and overall, the experience is sufficient without being either inadequate, or paying extra for services one would never use. Ideal place for those who come for shopping/sightseeing and are out during the day.

Final tip: Book through the hotel's website rather than direct, their rates are much cheaper online!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a good view - specify that you do not want to be facing another building directl...

The residences are attached to the Swiss Garden Hotel and only opened mid 2011.
This is a lavish looking side of the hotel and it is hard to believe they are so new for the room we had in the apartments, on the 10th floor,a one bedroom deluxe need a coat of paint in some places. Other concerns were a bathroom door that would not close (asked maintenance to fix this, which they partially did whereby you could only lock it from the inside.)
On arrival there was no bath mat, no toilet paper. There is no room compendium. You have no idea about anything. Where is breakfast? what floor. You find this out be reading the signs on walls and in the lift There are no glasses in the bathroom, no powerpoint for shaving or drying hair. This has to be done in the main part of the bedroom. Air con is very noisy. We had ours set to 26 degrees and even then it was far too cold. Perhaps the thermostat is not working?
Cannot fault the staff. They are polite, courteous, and friendly.
The bed we slept in was very comfortable and there were 4 huge pillows.
They have a laundrette on site where you can do your own laundry. The machines use a token system.
Each apartment has its own iron and ironing board.
The pool and gym is located on the 6th floor as with the restaurant for breakfast etc, These are well designed and set areas.
The walkway from the apartments to the hotel is only a short walk via the lift.
This then gives you access to some eating places outside the hotel, money changes and a short walk through the carpark to the Hawker stalls In Jalan Allor.
There is a Indian restaurant opposite the hotel called Cosy Corner. It might not look much from the outside but the food and the people passing through here make it a cheap and popular eating place. We ate here for breakfast each morning and the"boss" man got to know us whereby we received a very warm and friendly greeting each morning.

The apartments are new but need to pay attention to some basics which will make people happy and contented, wanting to come back again.

Room Tip: Avoid room 10008 on the 10th floor
