“Great retreat in the middle of the city”
Reviewed May 1, 2014 via mobile

Villa Samadhi boasts great customer service, immaculate rooms and ammenities. The pool right outside your room is amazing and the jacuzzi and shower is excellent.

Staff are friendly and happy to assist! Wife and i went shopping at KLCC and we came back to rose petals on the bed. We were very impressed with such service.

The bathroom is state of the art. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to sit in the lap of luxury during their stay i Kuala Lumpur!

My husband and I kicked off a 3 week vacation with 4 nights in KL staying at Villa Samadhi. We were grateful for the complimentary airport transfers at the end of a long day and also on the way back to the airport.
On arrival, check-in was quick, so quick in fact I didn't have time to enjoy my chilled tea. We were escorted to our room by Cherie, the manager who explained things quite quickly and then left us to settle in. After checking things out, we decided to head back to reception and happy hour in Bumbung Bar.
After drinks, we had dinner in Mandi Mandi as we were too tired to head out. Food was nice. We ate there on 2 occasions and on both, the food was adequate and tasty. I think we would have eaten elsewhere had we been closer to other facilities and found it easier to get out and about.
Breakfast was also nice although the buffet selection was a bit limited. Fresh juice and having one of the a la carte menu items cooked for you was a nice touch. I also liked the fact that breakfast was at your leisure so you didn't feel the need to be up at 7am and could have a sleep in.
Drinks in Bumbung bar each night were made entertaining by Nixon who was by far the nicest person we had the pleasure of meeting during our 3 weeks away! He should be commended on his customer service, can do attitude and sense of humour!
On our second day, we decided to head out and explore and requested a taxi. We were told by Cherie to come back in about 40 minutes. We headed back to our room to get ready and then went back to reception only to be told that there was no taxi and we could walk to the bus station or try and get a taxi from the main road. Now I am used to hot weather, but KL is something else with the heat and humidity but not being given any other option, we headed off. 100m up the road, we were stopped by a lady in a car and warned to be extra careful of bags as there were a lot of bag snatches going on in the area (something reiterated to us several times during our stay). 2 seconds later, we managed to flag down a taxi. During our stay, we did find the location was a barrier to getting out and about, something which was shared with other guests we spoke to. If not for the relaxing surroundings of the villa, I would probably not have been as complimentary in my review.
We ate at one of the affiliate restaurants Tamarind Springs one night and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Certainly not a cheap meal but very enjoyable.
Overall, the accommodation was very nice (although the lack of towel rails to dry our towels bugged me), pool was great and staff generally helpful and polite.
I was a little disappointed at the lack of assistance with sourcing transport out and about and felt that more could have been done in this respect. I felt that while Cherie was very pleasant on arrival and departure, some customer service got lost somewhere in the middle.
If you are looking for an oasis in the middle of a busy city, Villa Samadhi is your place but if you are looking for somewhere close to all the action, I'd recommend staying somewhere else.

Room Tip: We stayed in a luxe sarang which was very nice. Large and had direct pool access.

Such a fantastic place I’ve came. I love old and classy design; the hotel was like island in the middle of ocean. It was perfectly wonderful for couples. My room was spacious, cozy with Asian culture design. I love sun bathing here, swimming pool and sauna spa. Everything was perfect.

We had organised a pick up from airport by Villa Samadhi - fantastic. A lovely start and no problem about finding the hotel also reasonably priced as it is at least 1 hour from airport. Once inside the gates of the hotel its a peaceful oasis in the middle of a busy city. Our room was huge and so was the bathroom. The bed is comfortable and also very large. Complimentary fruit, biscuits and Malaysian sweets are in room as well as free wifi. Breakfast starts at 8 till 12 and there is a small buffet laid out as well as made to order food. The staff are helpful and friendly and go out of there way to meet any of your needs especially Cherie the manager and Nixon who served us breakfast. The swimming pool is lovely and clean. Other reviewers have mentioned that it was not clean but that was not our experience. It is a little way out of the centre of town about ten - 15 minutes by taxi dependant on traffic but it is worth it for the peace and quite and personalised service. As for taxis not knowing where it is that is true but grab a map from the hotel and no problem.

We have stayed here several times over the past year with our visits ranging from just one night to a week. Every visit has left us feeling relaxed and unwilling to return to normality. This is our favourite hotel.

When the gate slides back you are greeted by a lush oasis that feels like you are in the middle of nowhere, it is quiet and peaceful with mature trees and beautiful architecture.

The rooms are huge, with spacious bathrooms many of which include a private jacuzzi. The rain shower is just luscious. Each afternoon little cakes are left in your room, a great little energy boost after a busy day that is ideal to tide you through until dinner. The beds are so comfortable they guarantee a good nights sleep, combine this with the predominantly wooden decor and the quiet that surrounds the hotel means we completely relax here.

The breakfast is aimed at relaxation, served until 12 so you can enjoy a lie in and completely unhurried. So many hotels make you feel like you are on a conveyor belt; that you have to eat your morning meal and make room for other guests but this is definitely not the case here; the food is cooked to order and they are happy for you to take as long as you like. We have found that we usually take about 45 minutes to eat breakfast and it has always been delicious, especially the salmon bagel, my favourite.

Cherie, Hamish and their staff have always been helpful and friendly, a smile and hello is offered by everyone. When we have asked for restaurant reservations or a taxi the reply has always been a smiling 'Of course, what time?' Any request we have had has always been accommodated.

This hotel is different, it's not a big chain, corporate or business hotel and thats what makes it to special. The aim here is for adults (mainly couples) to be able to completely chill out in peaceful surroundings and they achieve that in buckets, it may not be right in the centre of the city but it's only a 15RM (about £3) taxi ride away and that lack of city noise helps with the gentle ambience of this place. Their location is a compromise we are willing to make to get the peace!

Others have noted it can be hard to find, this is true; my OH still can't find the place and we have been here half a dozen times! To help the taxi drivers find it ask for Jalan U-Thant, it's then second left, then first left and stop immediately opposite U-Thant Residences and you are at the gate. There is no sign on the gate, only a security hut for the guard, the bamboo gate and (in the evenings) a little row of fire opposite the security hut.

I have only one thing to gripe about with Villa Samadhi; the mosquitoes. There are hundreds of the little blighters because there is a lot of water and plants around the hotel and rooms. The only way to combat this is to use the insect room spray they provide (it's in the bathroom hidden inside a rustic wooden tube usually on the counter by the sinks) and to spray the room liberally each evening on your way out to dinner. It would be nice if the hotel started to do this when they come around each evening for the turn down service. There are plug in repellents in the room but invariably the refill is exhausted so we have to change this ourselves, again it would be nice for the hotel to manage this better.

Apart from the mosquitoes we have absolutely no complaints about this hotel, we have tried to think of ways to improve it and every time we just draw a blank. It's beautiful, welcoming, tranquil and the ideal get away from the city and the stress of everyday life. We will be back again in the near future.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great but go for a lux sarang for direct access to the pool from your balcony.

The purpose of my stay was to finally see what Villa Samadhi and enjoy a weekend stay with my bffs. We choose the Luxe Crib because it had a whirlpool (or jacuzzi indoor) which was really beautiful. The jacuzzi could fit more than 5 pax comfortably while the rain shower could have 3 pax bathing together. The bathroom is big, but there is no privacy. The double bed is huge, we love every bit of the relaxing and warm atmosphere. The air conditioning system should be at the bed and not at the wardrobe. It didn't cool the room enough. The swimming pool was beautiful, day/night. Everything about this place just screams I am not in the city anymore.

Surprised that the resort is small. Taxi didn't know where it was, we had to gps for it.
Shockingly, when we purchase our hotel stay it had all the wonderful additions listed (Bumbung drinks & canapes) but when we walked over to Bumbung at 5.30, we were stopped and told that it wasn't complimentary for us. That is strange, did the hotel not check with our booking agent? We felt like criminals and did not have the mood to enjoy Bumbung anymore.

Another disappointment was the whole room and jacuzzi look lovely and was one of the reasons we stayed here but upon entering our room, the staff warned us not to use any bubble products in the jacuzzi (whirlpool) and just the salt provided. They will not change the water until the next day (after check out).

This is the first time any luxury hotel has warned me not to use my own bath products. For the price I pay, I should be able to enjoy my own jacuzzi or bubble bath in my bathroom. A warning sign should just be place in the website. How do couples enjoy a bubble bath if this is meant to be a romantic stay? A salted bubbling water don't do much for the imagination.

Breakfast menu is limited and was okay. They should improve on the menu and buffet.
There is no telephone in the room which is really strange.
The evening snacks was onde-onde, one piece per guest only.
Snacks (biscuits, two pcs per guest only) in a glass jar at the tv.
Love the fruit bowl.
We had dinner at Rama V, the closes restaurant here with a similar luxurious getaway feel.

Beautiful place but details do count.

Room Tip: Luxe Crib is good enough and has a jacuzzi :)
