“average food for this restaurant in Traders Hotel KL”
Reviewed August 17, 2012

Gobo Chit Chat is one of the 2 restaurant of the Traders Hotel and it's located on the 5 floor. Cuisine is opened non stop from morning breakfast to diner in the evening. Two choices the evening or at lunch, a la carte menu or Buffet.

The food is international with some malaysian specialities food.

The decor is nice and modern. But service to be improved and time to be served quiet long.
I choose when I went, The tandoori chicken with naan bread, mango chutney and mint sauce, The chicken was good, but the naan bread horrible, a sort of arabic naan bread grilled. And the mint sauce was very small portion.....................

At the end a bit disappointed. Prices are ok, but bad for this occasion.

“Could be better”
Reviewed April 12, 2012

Breakfast was EXCELLENT, but the dinner needed more attention. Too dim on one side and not enough light to highlight the fod in the salad area. Attendants sometimes were missing form their stations and food was not on time in the dishes too.

“Needs to pay more attention to their food and staff quality control”
Reviewed February 9, 2012

My party went there for dinner. Parking was easy and accessible. Atmosphere was rather like eating in a hotel lobby.

We opted for ala carte as we were in the mood for a light meal, so I cannot comment on the quality of the buffet, but people seemed to be enjoying themselves as far as I could tell.

The ala carte dishes turned out to be a mixed bag. My friend ordered the fish and chips, which was said to be 'good' although another member of the party commented that the chips were not as fresh as they should have been.

Another friend tried the poshed-up version of Hainanese chicken rice, which was merely ok, but said it was nothing special and probably not worth the RM30 price tag.

I ordered the seared cod, and from the description in the menu, it was supposed to be a 'seared cod fillet on a bed of lemon potato mash and fennel salad'.

After a long wait, the waiter showed up with a slab of completely-cooked fish resting on some rather sorry-looking fragments of potato and some slivers of fennel garnishing on the top. I'm not sure what happened here. Either the person who wrote the menu meant to be misleading and confused the meanings of the words 'sear', 'mash' and 'salad', or maybe because it was late-ish, the kitchen staff wanted to hurry home and decided to cut some corners (and hoped we would not notice).

Whatever the reason, the result was immensely underwhelming, certainly not worth the hefty price tag they put on it. When the discrepancy was pointed out, the server initially tried to convince us that the random loose chunks of potato hiding beneath the fish were indeed supposed to be the 'mash' but on realising we were not fooled, took the dish back without further attempts at deception.

I will give credit to the staff in that after the dish was sent back, they paid a bit more attention and redid part of the dish, this time with a little bit more effort. They also apologized and offered a bowl of soup to make amends, but I regret to say that even after all this, the food was still rather bland and the fish now overcooked (they probably just reheated the one from my old plate and put it back on). I briefly considered sending it back again when they came to ask if everything was all right but this point it was so late I no longer trusted the place to do things right and just wanted to finish and leave.

Overall, I think we probably would have gotten a better experience food-wise from the Skybar upstairs (which I might add the Gobo Chit Chat staff errorneously informed us earlier, 'did not serve food'.)

I'm rather surprised at such a lack of quality control considering Gobo Chit Chat is supposed to be a classy restaurant attached to the reputable Trader's Hotel, but looks to be that the management and staff are getting to be a bit complacent about anything that is not the buffet. Quite a shame, really.

“Ordinary Hotel Buffet type restaurant. Not a nice atmosphere”
Reviewed February 6, 2012

OK i you are staying at Traders and can't be bothered to go out. Wide range of cuisines; all OK but nothing exceptional. There are better places to eat in KL. Environment in Gobo Chit Chat is like sitting in a large over-airconditione aircraft hanger... OK for the breakfast buffet but notreally for dinner.

“Very enjoyable Lunch Time Buffet”
Reviewed September 12, 2011

This was our first lunch time visit to Traders Gobo Chit Chat although we have stayed many times at Traders and enjoyed their breakfasts.

The lunch time buffet is full of a wide range of choices including 1) a salad bar with smoked salmon, large prawns, oysters, assorted cold meats and cheeses . 2) Freshly made Sushi 3) Soups 4) Asian hot main courses both spicy and not so spicy 5) Western main courses including fish and meats 6) Freshly made Quesadillas 7) Assorted breads 8) Noodles/Rices 9) Hot roast joint 10) Desserts - cakes, pastries, jellies, ice creams etc

Plenty of choice for both the meat eater and the vegetarian

There is just such a variety that its impossible to try everything you would like.

If you at near KLCC then this is a great place to chill out and enjoy a tasty lunch feast, Its not cheap at best part of 150RM for a couple but well worth it!
