We enjoy staying at The Royal Chulan when visiting Kuala Lumpur. It is located in the center of town, just off Bukit Bintang. Prices are much more reasonable and lots of extras. This trip we did notice cost cutting which did affect our stay. We hope the management will consider the guests comfort when cutting such items as face and hand towels in the bathrooms and napkins at breakfast. All these little things do make a big difference

Room tip: Club rooms have free breakfast, 4 items laundry daily and afternoon cocktails

We stayed in Royale Chulan hotel for three nights. This hotel had a good position close to the centre. The hotel itself was huge, with a lot of space and rooms. The reception was impressive, decorated with fresh flowers and plants. We got the room 540 which didn't have a balcony and was facing to the street. Although we could see Petronas Towers we were missing the fact that we couldn't sit on the balcony and enjoy the drink. The room was very clean and spacious. Some of the details though looked worn out and could be improved. We asked for a non smoking room but when we entered we could actually smell some tobacco. People were probably smoking in the window as there was no balcony. Bathroom was large too, cleaned daily and toiletries were supplied regularly. There was also a little fridge to chill your drinks. Beds were comfortable.

Breakfast were served from 6:30 till 10:30. There was a massive choice of everything so you could actually have 5 course meal in the morning. All the staff was very friendly and polite.

The pool and gym area was on the second floor. Towels were provided. Although it was a big hotel, the pool seemed to be semi-empty all the time. Very good and relaxing time without any screaming kids around the pool. Water was clean and pleasantly cool. There was a beautiful view to Petronas towers. The gym was basic but good enough to keep you on the track during your holiday.

We would definitely return to this hotel but we would asked for the higher floor room with a balcony.

The Royale Chulan is a very well designed hotel with a number of restaurants and places to eat and relax. Checking in was very easy and the staff were extremely polite and courteous. The room was spotless and if I asked for extra water or sugar it was no problem and everyone was happy to help. This is my third visit to this hotel and the business manager Mrs Suria Sufian is a complete diamond and the hotel directors should be very proud of her.

Most hotels tend to look for the next customer or client and some lack the basic value of repeat custom and Suria is spot on with looking after every detail to make sure that you want to come back. For business in KL this is the perfect spot and they have probably the best business manager in Malaysia. Her staff are extremely polite and make sure whatever the issue, it is attended to and they do so extremely well.

As with most business trips I needed some documentation printing and scanning and it was easy enough to do and the pricing was very good. The hotel is approximately 700 metres from the main shopping centre called the pavilion, you turn left out of the front door to the end of the street turn right and then you are walk over the bridge and you are in the middle of KL it is perfect.

The staff were more than happy to offer advice when needing to travel around town and they also offered advice on shopping malls and places of interest. The taxis are all on meters and the hotel staff like to make sure that the taxi you have, knows where you want to go

The swimming pool is very good and the only down side to this spacious and amazing hotel is that the gym is so small and has very little in the way of good equipment and it is this that stops it getting 5 stars. In all it is very good hotel for any business trip and is highly recommended

Room tip: Any over looking the pool

Deluxe hotels offer many similar facilities and they need a unique selling factor to gain new and loyal customers. The pool at the Royale Chulan is its winning feature. Very big, with spacious sunbatheing garden areas and decks. On weekdays it hasn't appeared to be a favourite for city-going family groups. Long laps in quiet surroundings, with distant views of the Towers and the historic hotel's serenely soviet architecture. Food and drinks available of course.

Room tip: Higher-rated rooms have balconies; guests with walking difficulties need to ask for minimal distance to breakfast room and main lobby.

Spent 3 nights here on my own. the staff are very friendly and I even got a upgrade on my room, think they felt sorry for me as it was Valentine's Day!
I opted for an included breakfast and was glad I did. The section was so huge that I couldn't decide what to eat.
The pool area is lovely, quiet and clean
The only downside to this was the shower in my room. It flooded and when I looked down I could see why. Lots of hair in the plug hole. No mine either! The shower curtain had also come off its hooks and just needed putting back on (too high for me to reach). When I pointed this out to housekeeping they sorted the plug and cleaned up the flooded bathroom.

Overall a lovely hotel with friendly and helpful staff.
