“5 Star centrally located hotel”
Reviewed June 26, 2013

My wife and I stayed at The Royale Chulan in June, 2013. We stayed for 7 nights in a Premier Room overlooking the pool. The room was big, clean and stylishly furnished with a good sized balcony.
The hotel is Asian styled and low-rise - not your usual boring high-rise hotel with no character at all. The hotel facilities are all first class.
We could not speak highly enough about the staff. They were all very friendly and attentive from the pool attendant and room cleaners to the management.(Note to travellers - treat the people you meet with respect, and with a smile, and they will most likely treat you the same way.)
If you go through the hotel side entrance you are only about 200m from the Pavilion, 300m from Sunhill and 350m from Fahrenheit 88. If you can't find the shop or restaurant you want in those shopping centres then you are very hard to please.
The Petronas Towers are about 2km away by air conditioned covered walk-way from the Connections (entertainment) section of the Pavilion Shopping Centre.
This was our first time at Royale Chulan and definitely will not be our last.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 372 overlooking the pool. Unfortunately the noise from the pumps/air conditioning...

Stayed for 3 nights. Booked 2 rooms for wife, 3 kids and myself with breakfast but the reception at the restaurant listed only 4 of us. Fortunately, they gave my youngest complimentary breakfast. Well, for the price I paid, it certainly is a very good and budget-friendly option for KL accommodation.

The property is reasonably well-maintained with all the stuff in working order. It is 5-star but I wouldn't say it is luxurious. The location is very central, within walking distance of Golden Triangle shopping area and KLCC though tourists should be cautious of the twin dangers of bad drivers and petty criminals.

Large, functional, clean & tidy rooms. The letdowns are slow wi-fi and the limited TV channels. Our rooms were located at Level 4 and the noise from the ballroom was audible. Fortunately the function ended around 10pm and it was pretty quiet thereafter.

The wall soundproofing is not good. When I call my family next door via the telephone intercom, I can hear the ringing clearly. The doorbell chime was really loud & the hotel management should reduce the volume.

Breakfast was adequate. You can't fault the quantity of food but the quality was merely average.

I would recommend it as a budget stay at a 5-star hotel with a central location. Personally, I would pay a bit more and choose another hotel.

Room Tip: Choose higher floor and facing KLCC Towers if possible. Request non-smoking and specify your bed pre...

My family & I stayed in one of the club rooms for 3 nights. Was served great bites for tea & cocktail at the club every afternoon. Breakfast was a huge delicious spread. Hotel was a short distance to Pavilion shopping mall & Bukit Bintang. Service was excellent. Staff was accomodating & polite. Enjoyed our stay very much & will definitely come again.

This is my 2nd stay at the hotel. As expected, it reminded me of why I chose it the first time. Beautiful and unique location, friendly staff, a breakfast buffet too big to get lost in. If you're lucky, maybe you'll even get to see some celebrities( I DID!!!). The hotel definitely deserves its ranking and reputation. A must-stay hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

This is a traditional hotel in a great location close to the Golden Triangle. Room was lovely with a most luxurious bathroom. Pool area was nice. Staff pleasant and very helpful. Breakfast was good with a vast selection covering most of the world. Would recommend it thoroughly as a base when visiting KL. It is close to the Pavilion shopping centre and hundreds of restaurants and walking distance to the twin towers.

This is probably the best hotel in KL i have stayed at. Large comfortable room, amazing facilities, the breakfast buffet was unforgettable. Pretty close to all the hustle & bustle of bukit bintang. Pretty economical too. Would highly recommend!!!

My family and I stayed here for 7 nights in early June and had an overall wonderful experience. The pro's and cons are listed below;

Pros:
- Got upgraded to a suite
- The staff noted it was my birthday and a cake was waiting at our suite
- Excellent pool and gym facilities
- Very clean
- Located in the golden triangle area of KL - walkable distances to Bukit Bintang and major shopping malls
- Staff very pleasant and helpful
- Extensive breakfast choice

Cons
- The certain polish of a five star hotel wasn't always evident - there were three adults staying in the suite and yet only towels and toiletries were provided for two. Had to keep asking every day to get another set. Newspapers were provided in a haphazard fashion
- Although breakfast choice was extensive the quality was not always brilliant

Overall, I would certainly recommend this hotel to fellow travellers. However, I would hope that hotel management reads this page and makes certain small improvements that would make this hotel truly world class
