Traveling with kids the easiest way to visit the city. This time first we used one bus that was half covered and was quite std. but the explanation about the places was kind of boring. The second one it was a doble decker bus full covered with no explanation at all and a very small distance between seats.
Kids get bored and we had to leave.
They can improve
We did this before I read the trip advisor reviews. Big error.
It's packed full and you have to wait for another busy bus.
Seats are filthy and it's not a good ride.
Poor quality sound on the commentary.
It's half a stop behind.
If they had more busses.
Use if you must.
We had read some bad reviews last year and decided to see the sights using public transport, but it took forever and we gave up.
This year we decided to give it a go and were extremely happy with the service. Very friendly staff, we never waited more that 20 minutes for a bus and saw a lot of KL which we hadn't seen before.
Excellent value for money and highly recommendable.
Pretty straight forward to book - but they request you to print off the tickets which isn't easy when you're travelling. The buses do not run on time and they go whereever they want - they randomly stop and take breaks but then don't even stop at every bus stop. The audio guide is terrible - I've been on these kinds of buses all around the world and this was by far the worst - it had incorrect and irrelevant information which was played at the wrong places and was incredibly brief. The air conditioning was broken on over half of the buses I got on and they didn't care. You will find people checking the tickets at various stops but will refuse to help you or provide you with any kind of assistance. Either walk or grab an uber - honestly save your money. I wasted about 80 RM for the 48 hour one and didn't even bother on the second day.
These buses are a good way to gain an oversight of a city. Kuala Lumpur's route does just that. Unfortunately there appeared to be no restriction on the number of people allowed on the bus at any one time which resulted in people standing on both the lower and upper decks. I don't know for sure that this is why 'the balloon (?tyre) burst' but we all had to get off and wait for a relief bus to arrive. This took over 20 minutes and some fellow travellers told us that it was the second bus of its type that they had been on which had broken down that morning. We were concerned that we too would have to stand were we to hop off and join another bus so we went round the whole loop in one sitting.
The commentary was very limited and was often behind the bus's location. It was a missed opportunity to share the historical and cultural context of Malaysia in general and Koala Lumpur specifically.
For RM45 (approx £9) it's very expensive compared to just getting a taxi if you know where you want to go & if there are a few of you.
We went from KL tower to Central Market which was fine (although packed so no seats), then onto Merdeka Square (got seats this time), but once we were finished we waited an hour and 20 minutes and no bus! The brochure states 20-30 minutes intervals. We had to give up and walk or we could have missed our time slot at Petronas towers. Traffic just seemed to be getting lighter and lighter and there was no message on the website to suggest why it was so late.
Unreliable and expensive. Just get a taxi.
