it was our first time on a hop on hop off tour . It costs 35 MYR. the service starts at 9 am and closes by 8pm. we took the 10am bus and it was on time. Good audio commentary (recorded) of each attraction. It has around 23 stops. comfy seats and good airconditioning. we took a whole round trip on the bus and it lasted 2.5 hours. then we got down at certain places of our interest. we were quite satisfied with the route and enjoyed the ride. tickets can be purchased in the bus stops.

I have been on Hop on Hop Off bus tours in many cities. It is always a great way to know your way around and learn something about the area This particular tour was really nothing more than a cheap way to get from point A to point B. If you are unlucky enough to be near a stop that is multiple stops from where you want to go, it can take a while. I think it might be good for younger college students who may not want to pay for a taxi. They advertise that they offer various languages but the two buses I was on did not. They play a recorded summary of sites in English and at times the bus driver chimes in with some added details before the stops in a very strong Malaysia Accent. Those with English as a second language and even a first will struggle to understand them. The bus seats are disgustingly dirty. I think they need to charge a few more RM an upgrade their systems and buses. To go the entire route it takes at least 3 hours. I think the local city bus or the train might be better. I suggest you figure out where you want to go an get a taxi.

Having experienced some amazing open top bus tours in various cities around the world we decided to make use of this one in KL when we had a spare morning before flying home. The bus did not turn up on time, however on reaching the 2nd stop, it broke down and we had vacate the bus and wait for the next one. When the next bus arrived we discovered that there was no commentary for those of us sitting on the open part of the bus for the entire 2 and 1/2 hour tour (there were no speakers). On moving inside, we discovered the commentary being played in the closed part of the bus was difficult to hear (only a few speakers working) and at times appeared to be out sequence to where we were. The other downside to being inside the bus, was that you could not see out of the very dirty windows. Luckily for us we met a Malaysian who was home from the US, visiting family and had taken the tour with a young cousin. He kindly gave a commentary of what we were looking at as the bus travelled through KL, which was great until he got off!

The buses are falling apart - ripped upholstery and dodgy seats. The wifi is poor - it took me about 15 minutes to log onto Facebook to see a message from a friend - very annoying. The wait times are advertised as 20-30 minutes, but we waited - twice - for at least 45 minutes (this was on a Sunday, PS). The final stop was the one that broke the camels back "we're stopping for 5 minutes so you can take photos". That's strange, but OK. What they didn't tell us was that the bus had actually broken down. 40 minutes later (still at the same stop) we piled onto another bus that arrived....

Buyer beware.

We did our tour at 12 noon at stop # 23, in front of Petronas Twin Tower. It's almost 30 minutes wait but since the view of the tower entertained us, we didn't get bored at first. The English commentator is all you can hear all throughout the trip, no other languages available as stated on their advertisements. Besides, they don't distribute earphone when boarding and the plugs look broken in each seat. We went down at Menara Tower and National Museum but most of our time was wasted while waiting for the bus. It doesn't have an exact timetable just like in other cities where I already tried the Hop-on Hop-off bus like Singapore, Stockholm, Dubai or Rome. Piece if advice: If you are two or more persons traveling, it's better to rent a car where you just have to pay RM80 for the entire half day city tour, otherwise, you will be ripped off paying more at RM45 each and wait forever. Besides, you will not use it for 24hours, believe me, maximum is 6 hours and that's it, especially when it's traffic.
