Owner description: Come and visit Lazat Malaysian Cooking School and bring back an authentic taste of Malaysia! Our hands-on cooking classes are held Monday to Saturday and presented in English by entertaining Malaysian instructors. We are located just outside Kuala Lumpur city centre and our school is furnished with purpose made demonstration tables and individual cooking stations. Each day of the week we teach a different ethnic menu and provide detailed explanations of ingredients and cooking methods. Students individually prepare their own 4-course lunch, usually consisting of an appetizer, main course, side dish and dessert. Malaysian cuisine is a unique fusion of Malay, Chinese, Indian and Baba-Nonya flavors, drawing upon our country's rich history as an historical crossroads for explorers and traders from around the globe. At LaZat our goal is to bring Malaysian cooking to the world by sharing with you our family recipes, which we have savored and perfected over generations.

“Typically friendly, education, fun cooking class in Kuala Lumpur”

Ana, Saadiah, Sue and all the team at LaZat are a pleasure to spend the day with. Even after living in Malaysia for several years I came away knowing more, feeling capable to making some great meals in a really traditional method and most of all had great fun with a diverse group of fellow explorers. This is an excellent way to get to know about Asian cuisine and to meet some lovely people on the way.

Great day together if you are travelling with a group - our teacher was Sue and we loved her..so funny and warm she really made the whole experience for us. Showed us through the markets and talked about all the different ingredients, we had so much fun Anna the owner is great fun and put together a special surprise cake for our group in honour of the bride to be, we drank wine laughed and ate our food together was a great experience I would highly recommend...ask for Sue!

“Awesome cooking experience”
Reviewed January 29, 2013

After hearing the rave reviews about this place i decided to do some cooking classes.
I did a classic Malaysia class and a Nonya class. Both were excellent. My instructor Saadia was warm and patient and an excellent teacher. She would demonstrate the dish and then guide you through the dish. The chefs really make the experience, but the cooking class room is also very modern and well set out and the cook book well written. Whats more, they even ran the class with only me for the first session. I would recommend this cooking school! Its lovely to take a little piece of Malaysia home with you. My only suggestion is be careful the cooking school is a little out of town and it is best to take the transport service offerred.

“Everyone should do this!”
Reviewed January 26, 2013 via mobile

I am so thankful for trip advisor that we found this little gem of a place. We booked ourselves onto the course which included the market tour in the morning with Sue which was so interesting and informative. After learning so much about the different ingredients, the processes used and alternatives we would find in our home country, it was back to begin cooking!

The class was so much fun, Saadiah & Shaam were our instructors and made the whole experience wonderful. They are smart, funny, patient and full of passion for their food. Everything we cooked was delicious and they were so helpful to find an a chicken alternative for my partner who doesn't eat fish so that he didn't miss out which was very kind.

The recipe books were fantastic as now we are home we would have forgotten everything but thankfully all the measurements, and information is all there for you.
Ana was also very kind to come out and chat to us abut how she started the business and her background of working as a chef all around the world which we found fascinating.
All in all, these ladies were wonderful, we learnt so much, cooked and ate delicious food and it became and unforgettable experience.
