Owner description: Come and visit Lazat Malaysian Cooking School and bring back an authentic taste of Malaysia! Our hands-on cooking classes are held Monday to Saturday and presented in English by entertaining Malaysian instructors. We are located just outside Kuala Lumpur city centre and our school is furnished with purpose made demonstration tables and individual cooking stations. Each day of the week we teach a different ethnic menu and provide detailed explanations of ingredients and cooking methods. Students individually prepare their own 4-course lunch, usually consisting of an appetizer, main course, side dish and dessert. Malaysian cuisine is a unique fusion of Malay, Chinese, Indian and Baba-Nonya flavors, drawing upon our country's rich history as an historical crossroads for explorers and traders from around the globe. At LaZat our goal is to bring Malaysian cooking to the world by sharing with you our family recipes, which we have savored and perfected over generations.

After hearing the rave reviews about this place i decided to do some cooking classes.
I did a classic Malaysia class and a Nonya class. Both were excellent. My instructor Saadia was warm and patient and an excellent teacher. She would demonstrate the dish and then guide you through the dish. The chefs really make the experience, but the cooking class room is also very modern and well set out and the cook book well written. Whats more, they even ran the class with only me for the first session. I would recommend this cooking school! Its lovely to take a little piece of Malaysia home with you. My only suggestion is be careful the cooking school is a little out of town and it is best to take the transport service offerred.

I am so thankful for trip advisor that we found this little gem of a place. We booked ourselves onto the course which included the market tour in the morning with Sue which was so interesting and informative. After learning so much about the different ingredients, the processes used and alternatives we would find in our home country, it was back to begin cooking!

The class was so much fun, Saadiah & Shaam were our instructors and made the whole experience wonderful. They are smart, funny, patient and full of passion for their food. Everything we cooked was delicious and they were so helpful to find an a chicken alternative for my partner who doesn't eat fish so that he didn't miss out which was very kind.

The recipe books were fantastic as now we are home we would have forgotten everything but thankfully all the measurements, and information is all there for you.
Ana was also very kind to come out and chat to us abut how she started the business and her background of working as a chef all around the world which we found fascinating.
All in all, these ladies were wonderful, we learnt so much, cooked and ate delicious food and it became and unforgettable experience.

My husband and I booked int LaZat for the Chinese-Malay class on the first day of our trip to KL. We couldn't speak more highly of it! What a fantastic day! Our class instructor, Sue, was just wonderful! This particular class included a trip to the markets, which was fascinating. Then we cooked about 4 courses, which were all DELICIOUS! The great thing about this class is how they do it. You cook and eat bit by bit. Firstly, We watch Sue do it and then we have our own stoves, etc do make our own. After the class Ana (the owner) then took the time to talk with us, and even gave us tips on where to eat etc in KL while we were there. I would also recommend asking them to come and pick you up from your hotel, as it is a bit out of town.

We have just returned from a family holiday in Kuala Lumpur which included a day with Ana and her team at Lazat Cooking school. We had 7 in our party, all family, which included a couple of guys who don't visit the kitchen often! We were able to choose our own menu and Ana, Sue and Saadiah made everything so simple and easy to achieve. Ana arranged a transfer from our hotel which was efficient and pleasant and went the extra mile and helped us with local knowledge regarding other tours and shopping. The whole experience was efficient, clean, friendly and a wonderful day was had by the entire group. We all thoroughly recommend the dessert - Pengat Pisang - YUM. Cannot recommend Ana and the team highly enough and would certainly return.

We enjoyed a Friday cooking class at Lazat with a morning tour of the nearby fresh food market. Our instructor was Sue who was very fun and easy to learn from. The kitchen is set out very well with enough room for 8 or so students in 2 areas (there were 2 classes on at the same time). All ingredients are prepared for each student & all the cleaning up is done after each dish, so there is more time spent cutting and cooking instead of gathering ingredients and cleaning. Sue explained each ingredient and what could be used as substitutes in Australia. The dishes were easy and after cooking we were able to eat our creations. The class was very enjoyable and a great day out. On completion students are given a photo of themselves cooking and a take home recipe book. We highly recommend a cooking class and will come again in the future.

It is advisable to arrange through Lazat a return transfer with Chris the driver from your hotel to the class in the morning and back again in the afternoon.

The cooking class is very reasonably priced.
