“Miserable surroundings, no vibe”
Reviewed November 21, 2012

We chose this place because we were told by our old guidebook that it was cheap and clean. It is cheap but the rooms are depressing, rather than there being several dorm rooms they are all connected so it's more like one massive dorm. They pride themselves on having no bugs but I'm actually looking at one scuttling around on the floor as I'm writing this. No lockers in the rooms, few working plug sockets, they don't even provide toilet paper. Few bathrooms for the number of beds in the place. The only service they provide is wifi. I just got back some laundry I paid to have done, and all my white stuff is pink so the colour has run even though all my clothes are very old. They won't even apologise. Pretty rubbish experience!

I stayed in the dorm for 12rm per night, which is very cheap for Malaysia. Aircon only on from 9pm to9am, wifi works well, front desk is moderately useful for transport information. Decent place to stay for those on a budget.

Avoid this place,it's the worst hostel i have ever stayed in! Its is close to petaling street, that's the only good thing about this extremely old rundown cockroach filled, dirty, noisey place.i would rather sleep in a public park than sleep in this hostel again.

I stayed here for 4 nights in september 2012, in a fan room with attached shower and paid 56 RM per night.
The queen bed fits exactly in the room, there is a very small table and a little chair, no storage space. The bathroom is small too, it's very hard to sit on the toilet without banging your head into the wall... But the water was warm enough and it was clean. There is no daylight coming into the room, but the lamps are bright. Fan was working fine. Bed was more or less comfortable. Toilet paper and towels are for sale.
I couldn't sleep very well because it was very loud during the night; the publi bathroom for the dorms was just next to my room, so whenever someone had a shower there I woke up. Also the street market very early in the morning was noisy.
The location of the hostel was great, in the middle of chinatown very close to petaling street, food stalls, restaurants, little supermarkets, 5 min walk to monorail station.
Staff was friendly and helpful, the direction they provide to find the original backpackers inn makes it very easy to just walk there.
The rooftop bar was deserted very often, I didn't meet many people in the hostel itself but the streets are full of friendly tourists.
Overall, a good place to stay if you are alone in the room, good location, good for exploring Kuala Lumpur.

As is typical of much of the budget accomodation across Malaysia you should expect only very basic rooms ie no windows, no private bathroom and no space! But it's fine as its cheap, very conveniently located and after all you're not here to spend all day in your room!

The bar serves the cheapest drinks you'll find in KL and has a cool relaxed vibe. Wifi is always on but weak. While in Chinatown try Stingray at Ikan Panggang Portuguese fish place - if you can find it! It's awesome!

I am a little puzzled by reviews of others that say this place has no communal feel maybe they were the ones I saw just lying in their beds surfing on the internet the whole time because I
stayed here 3 different times and I found this place just great for meeting people namely at The Rooftop where there is a bar that is quite popular with other travelers from different hostels, drinks are cheap RM 5 ( 1.2 Euro) for a spirit mixer, the guy that runs it is called Chris he us quite a party animal but he is very helpful on travel tips and also helping you meet other travelers, Chris helped us plan our entire Malaysia trip for free, I still have the notes he gave me on where to go to avoid the tourist traps and how to get things cheap and he sent us to some really beautiful places. I stayed in a female dorm 3 Euro per night per person and I found it to be quite spartan, the ac works nicely from 9pm to 9 am, toilets work and hot showers are a plus, cleanliness is ok except when someone messes up the toilet just before you use it, location is very central in chinatown with lots of food stalls, it's also close to the train and bus terminal. Free Wifi, good and cheap breakfast.Overall I felt very at home here with nice hosts and considering what I was paying, it was a real bargain.
Beware:- the travel agent downstairs tries to sell you trips you can do by yourself for a lot cheaper.
Travel safe,
Yolly.

Place is ok, room are small and very basic... Beds and matresses are unconfortable.
They have shared hot shower.
Cleanliness is sufficient.

Last time we stayed there we had a double room at the ground floor (which is the first floor of the building) close to bathrooms and laundry machines... staff started to make noise everyday at 6.00-7.00 a.m wich is a really pity if you would like to sleep more... you can't sleep more.

Room Tip: Every double room is similar, You can have aircon if you ask.
