“Social Mecca”

I have been to Kuala Lumpur almost 5 times in the last two years of traveling Asia and I must say that this place will always be like a home. The Staff are very helpful not just to me but to everyone that walks in. The dorms are nothing to brag about but it gets the job done for about 4 USD, free Wifi, toilets function, no bed bugs, no rats (yes, I have lived in some hell holes out here), it's very central to explore the city and is smack in Chinatown, food is great and cheap closeby. The main attraction of this hostel I dare say is Rooftop Bar (people from other hostels come here to party) and the bar owner Chris is a [--] Legend, a travel guru and also just a great guy all around, I had a credit card problem and he just said "here's 100, make it count". (I did pay him back), I met so many people staying here and some really great travel companions and this place will always hold a special place in my Asia dairy.

The dorms in here are good and cheap. Location is super. There was supposed to be an aircon on in the night time, but i guess it did not work.

The bunk beds seem to be made out of toothpicks. Every little movement creates an earthquake like rambling. I would consider it again for a very temporary stay. No longer than a few days.

Room Tip: In the dorm, try to get the lower bunk. The upper beds are very unstable

Rooms were cheap and clean and the facilities were okay. The location was great, close to markets, restaurants and transport options. I will definitely be back in the future.

The staff is very friendly, but they asked me a couple of times to rate the hostel with 100%. It was dirty, but it was very cheap. I would usually give 3 Points. But the bed bugs in the first night in the double bed were too disgusting. I had several bites on the foot. The location is fine. I wouldn't recommend it.

1 of the few places in chinatown, close to the "Plaza Rakyat" LRt station (light rail) and real close to the airport shuttle bus (10 RM one way). The rooms and dorms are decent. It's pretty ok for a few nights if your passing thru KL and want to see a couple of sights. The breakfast is good and Chris will help you with beer and info on the rooftop bar (usually 7.30 pm onwards). There aren't many budget places with private bathrooms but this one has a few, reservation recommended. Usually they have enough dormbeds available but better to reserve these too, esp if you're arriving 1st time and at night. There is 1 bar close by and a bunch of local restaurants. CHECK THE MENU FIRST as some still sell shark fin's soup.
There is a book exchange and wifi.
All in all, for the price a great place for a short while in a good location to get to or leave from.

I have a duffle bag with me so I had a hard time carrying it to the second floor at their reception and to the third floor where our room was located.

The room is clean with fan. You will need additional ringgit if you need the AC! It was not mentioned when I booked through the net. Anyhow, its okay it was not that hot.

The electrical outlet is near the door and its high so when you charge your phone, ipad etc you need to get a chair, put a pillow like two pillows so you will have a place to put your gadget on or else you will forever carry your gadget until its full. I just dont know if all rooms were the same.

Its a few minute walk to Pasar Seni Train station. From Pasar Seni its one station KL sentral for only 1 ringgit. And of course shopping and Petronas tower for only 1.60 ringgit.

Since its Chinatown, we were reminded to put our slingbags and cameras in our front not at the side for added security.

The accomodation is just right with the price. But in my future travel, I will find another hostel...

Or if I will stay here again, I will bring my backpack not my dufflebag...

I wanted to try how a basic lodging type suitable for budget travellers and I tick Backpackers travellers inn. and realised this is suitable for only young groups those spend their times mostly outside and sleep late night. They have some cellular rooms 4 feet by 7 feet size and put 2 bunks and no fan but a reverse ventilator which sucks air from corridor just for you to breath. Definitely you feel like Jail. Next day i decided to move from this cell to another shared cell (16 persons), which i feel some what spacious and can chat with other travellers. seems good if you got lower bunk. Bed and bedsheet is very poor, if you bring a bedsheet would be advisible. If you cant find sleep, you can go outside and have plenty of shops outside just near the Petaling Street.

Dont use the phone card facilities below they recommended, but better buy a Digi or Hotlink Line seems cheaper.

Toilet is ok, some what clean, and good shower, Dont spoil your travel mood by looking the facilities and spend most of your time outside except for sleep and bath.

Room Tip: stay in shared if you need some leg room!!!.
