“Great location, service and bed”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2013

We were travelling in a group of 6 (3 couples) and stayed at the Piccolo for two nights. lobby is nice, the service was great (though most of the staff struggled with speaking/understanding english) and the room was very modern. The light switches were a bit difficult to figure out as they were not labeled, but we made it through. The toilet and shower enter directly into the room and the vanity is in the middle of the room; to look modern the toilet and shower are encased in glass, thus if you were not close with the person you were staying with you definitely will be after this stay as the acoustics were hilarious! The shower had a lot of mildew on the floor and around the edges (a bit gross but easy to get past it as the rest of the room was clean).

It was our one year anniversary while at the Piccolo. My partner had arranged with the staff the day before to put a bouquet of flowers in the room while we were out during the day.... when we arrived back to the room they had gone above and beyond; they had made a heart with three different colours of rose pedals, on the bed they had folded our towels into swans, had sprinkled rose pedals all over the bed and laid the bouquet of flowers on the bed. Definitely had romance in mind when they put that together :)

There was no pool, but the spa downstairs was fantastic; they had a fish spa (best thing ever after long traveling days). The bar out front faced the street and had a lot of entertainment each evening. It was very easy to walk to most things and the monorail was about one block away.

Room Tip: There are no good views as it is down town, but was overall quiet.

Stayed for 2 nights and loved it! It was close to Lot 10 where we had 2 meals at the basement - the hutong food court. We even bought Penang's famous traditional snacks there (we came from Penang and the biscuits were sold out there. we were thrilled to find out they were selling it right by our hotel!) Pavilion hotel was just a 5 min walk and the KLCC Suria was just a 15-20 min by taking the footbridge from Pavilion. It was faster then taking the cab! My friend took a cab from there and it took them almost 45 mins to reach the hotel during rush hour (quite expensive too. they paid RM20) Whereas when we took it the night before it only costs RM5 using the metered taxi! The traffic in Bukit Bintang is horrendous. We enjoyed the stay in Piccolo even if the sink is right in the middle of the room (which is quite odd). Overall the hotel is clean, quiet and convenient. There's also free Wifi in the room. In my opinion the price seems a bit high but I think it's reasonable enough since you are paying for convenience. There's also a spa at the 2nd floor of the hotel which we didn't have time to try but it seemed clean when we went in to take a look. There's also a night market nearby about 10 mins away just past McDonalds and KFC (I think turn right after KFC then you're there). So many hawker food stalls. We had crabs and it was cheap and yummy. The area feels safe since there's always a lot of people around even at night. There's also a 7-11 right across the street and another one on the next alley. The money changer is right in front of the hotel too. I'm sure there are plenty hotels nearby but I think I will stick with this hotel during my next visit to KL.

Room Tip: just advice the reception you want a room that is quiet or a non smoking floor before booking the ro...

The layout of the executive room made me feel like home (with sofa & carpet). I love the toilet area. It was so clean. Location is very near to shopping malls. Can save money on transportation if your purpose is just to shop. It's quite disappointing that on our second day of stay, they didn't replenish the coffee but overall, I'm satisfied.

This hotel is located very near the major shopping joints - Pavilion, Lot 10, Star Hill and Fahreinheit is less than 5 minutes walk away. KLCC's Suria is about 15 minutes walk away. The Bukit Bintang monorail is just round the corner.

Pros:
- Very near shopping centres
- If you choose the hotel facing the back (the lower floors face a car park, though), it is very quiet.
- Room is clean, as is the toilet, bed.
- There is a LED TV with limited cable channels
- Service is prompt - the fridge in my room was not working and it was promptly replaced. I forgot the pass-code to the room security box and within 10 minutes, someone came to open and reset the safe.
- The lights in the room are adequate, even for bed reading (there is a spot light on top that you can switch on).

Cons
- The room has an open concept, so the shower and WC are each in a frosted cubicle; the wash basin is on an open cabinet facing the bed. Downside is if you are a light sleeper and your room-mate uses the toilet at night, the light and noice will surely wake you up.
- The room I had faces the back, and while quiet, it faces a gigantic car park (i was not going to stay in the room all the time, so did not bother to ask to change to a higher floor room).
- There are not much facilities - no swimming pool, fitness centre.

The room I booked did not include breakfast, so I cannot comment on that. But there are lots of eating places around. There is a 7-11 just across the road.

In summary, if you are here for a short shopping trip with easy access to shopping complexes, and rather spend your money on shopping rather than the hotel, then this is it. There are loads of nice restaurants at Pavilion, food courts at Pavilion and Lot 10, so eating is not a problem. So I enjoyed my stay here.

Room Tip: Ask for room facing the back BUT higher floor (to avoid being blocked by the hugh multi-storey car p...

Just walk out of the hotel & you will be spoilt for shopping (Lot 10, Pavilion, Sungei Wang, Bukit Bintang, Low Yatt Plazas to name a few), eating (Hutong@Lot10, Star Gallery,Pavilion Food Court, Jalan Alor, Changkat Tong Shin, etc) & entertainment (Star Gallery, No Black Tie, etc) choices, all within easy walking reach. Rooms are clean, with good rain shower & air-conditioning, & very comfortable bed & linen. If a swimming pool, gym, or a run in the park is a must for you then look elsewhere. I will rate it as a 3.5 Star (very comfortable) hotel in a great location. The front desk can get busy & the house-keeping may miss a towel, but these are not show stoppers if you get a good rate.

Room Tip: Rooms on the north side face the Pavilion Shopping Centre

Excellent location! Unfortunately not enough staff on Reception at the time of check-in so waited in line for nearly 40-minutes; which might have been slightly less if people hadn’t kept cutting in at the front of the line. Considering they advertise check in from 3pm you would have thought they would have adequate staff at the peak check-in time.
Got to our ‘supposedly’ non-smoking room and it stank of cigarette smoke. There was also an ashtray in the room which suggests it wasn’t actually a non-smoking. As an ex-smoker I’m allowed to be a grump about this  so asked to move room but told all non-smoking rooms had been allocated. Housekeeping came with air-freshener but this was futile as the room kept filling with cigarette odour through the air-con vents. The positives are the room size and hotel location but the down side was the cigarette odour, the long check-in time and the toilet light not working. Overall OK for 2 nights but I couldn’t have stayed any longer in this room.

Room Tip: Ask for a high room which is away frm the street noise (there are 12 floors) and specify non-smoking...

i like to stay in piccolo for my visit to KL because it is near to shopping centre and the price is reasonable for this type of hotel. But i was dissapointing in my last trip 2 days ago. I travel with my son and our blanket is not enough. But when i ask from the room service, they said it is chargeable for Rm 20. What a dissapointing service for 2012 tripadvisor winner hotel. Won't you just raise your rate Rm20 rather than charge this basic needs for your guest??

Room Tip: choose executive room for better experience
