“Really nice Fish & Chips”
Reviewed October 23, 2013

Really nice restaurant/bar in great location.
We ate at this restaurant while in KL in October & it was really nice. We had 2 different types of fish with mushy peas & curry sauce. Really friendly bar staff as well.
We'd eaten at this restaurant 18mths ago & I thought it was average but this time they have really stepped up, hopefully this continues.

“What's to complain about..”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

Butterfish F&C : Good - although the batter and the chips can be a bit crispier.
Sunday Roast : Good

Amazing note : Happy Hour 10pm-3am. Only at Chippy.

“Good but pricey”
Reviewed September 24, 2013

The food is good! No doubt about it.At RM36 for f&c, its just too much to pay. Drinks priced were reasonable as the restaurant was smacked in the middle of competition of a dozen other bars.. Our Bill came out to RM240 for only 4 drinks and 3 food items. You do the math

“When it's good it's very very good ......”
Reviewed September 14, 2013

If you have a hankering for fish and chips, this could be the place to sort your problem :)

My partner and I go here on a regular basis and out of half a dozen visits have been very-pleased four times, very displeased one time (second last time) and underwhelmed once (the last time) so, the MF&CB has one more chance with us before it's three strikes on the batter [pun intended] ;).

First the positives:

- Friendly and efficient staff.
- Nice environment with good people-watching space outside (but look-out if it rains LOL).
- The sausage rolls for starters are excellent.
- The Barramundi & Chips on a good day is fabulous and at MYR 35 not too expensive.

The downside:

- Difficult to get a good bottle of white wine (e.g. Sauvignon Blanc) as the stock is mainly 2013 bottled which is insipid for my taste so normally settle for the Pinot Grigio which is passable and a reasonable price for KL (MYR 120 if I remember rightly).

- Time before last, the Barramundi & Chips was well overcooked with worse-for-wear batter and the fish inside reduced to a paste because of the overcooking. The chips weren't great either. When I brought it to the wait-person's attention, she look at me as if to say SO ?

- As an alternative to the fish and chips, last visit I tried the Sunday Roast Lamb. Scraggy meat and the Yorkies overdone (no moisture left in them at all at all, the rest [veggies, jus and mint-sauce were all fine]).

So, to end on a positive note: the puddings here are very very good (bread and butter pudding and apple crumble with custard = yum yum).

If the MF&CB could up it's game in terms of consistency, I'd be giving it a four but with a 75% success rate for me right now it's a three.

“Good experience for Lunch”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

The food was excellent and the beer was cold. Four of us had entree and mains, 4 beers and a bottle of wine - costing MYR 456, works out to be $(A)159 . The oysters were fresh and plump, and we all had a range of meals off the blackboard. Had no problems with the staff. How hard is it reading from a blackboard? Good atmosphere, what's not to like?
