I'm very happy I found Matahari Lodge. I now have a place to go back to every time I'm in Kuala Lumpur.

The best thing about it is, of course, the location. Very near Pudu Raya and the station. The staff is also very nice and helpful, and they provide free coffee and tea, and free use of towels. The lobby is very comfortable, and internet connection there is strong.

What I don't like about it is you can't get a good internet connection in the dorm, and if you get the top bunk, you're screwed. It's so high up! So when you're getting a dorm bed, make sure to get the bottom bunk!

The room is windowless but unlike the other hostels I've been to, it doesn't bother me. Maybe because the bed is comfortable.

I would certainly use Matahari Lodge again next time I'm in town.

Situated near Pasar Peni station and Chinatown, so perfect to visit the centre of Kuala Lumpur and to enjoy the markets and street food.
Room was clean (there was no windows but it didn't bother me) and staff are very friendly.

I often use this hotel for weekend trip to KL. Location is perfect since only few minutes walk from train station. And less than 1 minute walking from 7 Eleven! This area is almost China town and even still walk distance to Bukit Bintan area.

This place is really clean and they change bed linens and blankets for every check in. (I saw it!) They have shared bath rooms. However it is clean and not crowded.

Basically I do not like the room without window. However their room was nicely decorated and renovated and cooling, this place is my exception!

Breakfast is just toast and tea/coffee, very simple, but it is a guest house, so it is ok!

The man at the reception desk was very friendly and helpful. The shared bathroom was clean but the water was quite cold! There is a really cool social area, with comfy sofas, computers and a TV. Breakfast was also nice. The location was good - just a few minutes walk from Chinatown.

The only negatives were that our room didn't have a window and you could hear everything through the walls. Still a good hostel for stopping over though. The wifi worked in our room, as we were only a few doors down the corridor from the main reception area.

First thing to mention is the location, it's fantastic! Right next to an LRT station so it's easy to get to and easy to get to places from. It's also right in Chinatown (a stone's throw from the Central Market) so there's plenty of places to eat, shop and explore! The rooms are the definition of basic - they don't even have windows - but it covers what you really need. The showers and toilets aren't the cleanest but everything works well. The WiFi is pretty fast but only available in the common areas, where there's also free tea and coffee anytime and toast for breakfast! The staff are also very pleasant, knowledgeable and happy to help with information, directions and even printing and doing laundry. Overall would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a simple base from which to explore KL.

i have stayed in backpackers all over the world and managed a backpackers in new zealand for 8 years. i found matahari 2 to be an extremely efficientt and well run backpackers. Rooms were clean and so were the common areas. The rooftop terrace was the star attraction of the place. the staff were very helpful and friendly and the manager Jerry went out of his to make his guests feel at home. i was very impressed with this backpackers and shall be returning in the near future. Room Tip: i stayed in the dorm room so wouldnt know much about the individual rooms.

Really good location. Directly near the Pasar Seni Train station.
Good walking distance to Bukit Bintang (20 minutes walking)!
It's located in china Town so easy to get some great Food or do some shopping on the night market.

I slept in the dorm Room like a stone because they didn't got windows ;) but that's alright!

Breakfast (coffee, tea, toast with butter, jam or peanut butter) is not filling but a good starter!

Staff is soo friendly!
And there is an area with couches where you can hang out, relax, and meet with other people!

Definatly will go there again!
