We hiked Fall Mountain trail....spectacular views and quite a workout. This park is only a hour from Charlotte. What a hidden gem. We're planning our next outing!

The park has rental canoes and wonderful hiking paths through the mountain forest. There are hills but nothing you ca't handle. The longest path (circular) is 4.1 miles. The shortest is .8 miles. The lake is beautiful and the rest rooms are clean. Plenty of parking.. You can buy snacks or bring your own. There are camping grounds but remember to bring bug spray. The noseeums can get fierce at dusk. Park is open until 8PM.

To be fair this park had massive storm damage this summer. We in joyed the place.the camp sites offered plenty of space but little privacy.the bathroom was ok.most walking trails were closed. The park rangers and camp hosts were friendly and helpful. We would come back.

Something for everyone. Kayaks, canoes, equestrian trails. Our camp host, Stoney, was very nice and patrolled the loop several times. I felt really safe. We had deer prancing and grazing all around or tent. There was a huge storm in June so some of the trails were inaccessible. I heard they'll be cleaned up 90 days from oct 1. Can't wait! Will be back.
