“Nice enough, a tram from the center”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 27, 2013 via mobile

Nice, spacious and clean "western" hotel, a bit outside the city center.  However you'll be close to the Dutch Slopes and Glower Garden and the tram to take you into the center of town.

We didn't have breakfast at the hotel. If your a late sleeper you can go to the bakery F:labo. They open at 10, are located 25 m down the road on the opposite side and have delious pasteries. If you rise early there's a diner if you go towards the waterfront, cross the tramline and look upwards (2f) and left.

Everything at the hotel was nice enough, it didn't disappoint but neither really impress in any way.

It was very beautiful and unique place to stay our family. We've been satisfied with all things especially reasonable price & very kind service. We are eager to go back if we had a chance to stay nagasaki again.

Room Tip: The room we stayed was very clean and tidy.

We loved this hotel for many reasons. It played on the european influence in Nagasaki, which made the decor warm and very different than what you would normally find in Japan.
Also, the hotel was geographically right inbetween China Town and Glover Gardens, which was perfect. It was lovelier to stay in a neighborhood rather than buy the busy train station.
Also, there is a Champon Noodle (the traditional Nagasaki noodle bowl) just across the street from the hotel for a delicious dinner after a long day of walking.
The parking garage was the icing on the cake.

Room Tip: We had to get two rooms because we have three little kids. They were still very reasonable priced.

Poor Staff Service: we drive 2 cars and want to park at the hotel garage. One staff take the 1st car down by elevator but leaving the second car waiting with no clue for 10 mins. Then once we get into the car park by ourself, staff just walk to us and say that the car park is full. When we move our luggage from the trunk, the staff just stand and look at us move without any help.

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights during the Nagasaki Kunchi 2013. The location is a little bit off the center but everything can be easily reached by the streetcars. The style is very unique, quite like a Portugese hotel. The room was ok, not too small but not very spacious. It is waht you expect in Japan. The beds were comfortable. The people were friendly but the command of English is quite rudimentary. The hotel has a restaureant with Italian-style food (although the name of the restaurant is rather Portugese). Breakfast served there was ok but not very special. We would certainly return to that place another time.

Where can you get a room for less than A$100 these days? Service was efficient and friendly at check in - language no problem. Room, very clean and full of character (loved the shutters and cat sitting in the doorway opposite at a local bar in the sun), but firm pillow or spare in the cupboard please. Within walking distance to 2 top sites - Dejima island and Glover Garden. 1o min drive or taxi ride to the Peace Museum - very moving. All give an incredible insight into the multicultural history of Nagasaki followed by the tragedy and lessons of war. A small city, easy to walk between sites, even in the rain, and so many friendly greetings from the locals wherever we went. Curious attempts at english conversation and many nods as we simply walked the streets - we wished we could share more in return. Great dinner 1st night at the Nagasaki Grill, just off the 2nd block of China Town, on a side street - robbatiaki style - beef, scallops, salad and vege, plus wine for A$70 - and great service! 2nd night had amazing dinner at the Amalia Salao (Hotel Monterey) - A$25 for 2 courses - smoked duck and local mushroom followed by octopus pasta, dessert and tea/coffee (or as my husband had - A$38 for the steak set and antipasta) - and a carafe of wine. An unforgettable experience and great value for money. I would love to visit Nagasaki again. An unforgettable highlight as the volunteer guide at the Dejima, who saw us sitting having a vending machine break, bowed and then said with sincerity "
I would like to welcome and thank you for visiting the city of Nagasaki....." Such an ambassador.

Bad things: You need to take 2 buses here from JR station. Also, they don't speak good English.

Good things: The room was big and breakfast was not bad! It's close to some sightseeing spots and the location is at least close to the bus station :P
