A good reasonably priced business hotel, located close to Namba station so good for getting to Kansai International Airport. A little difficult to find among the busy sidestreets, so I recommend printing a map and paying attention to your surroundings to spot the sign and entrance.
The room and walls showed age, but was otherwise clean and a comfortable room. The simple breakfast (eggs, bread, coffee) was a welcome extra.

Location is fantastic, right smacked between Doguyasuji Shopping Street and Kuromon Market, in just less than 5 mins walk from the two. There are a few pubs and bars next to and around the hotel, but I felt safe walking back to the hotel alone at night.

Overall the Hotel looks a bit run-down but nevertheless, functioning. The front desk staff showed basic friendliness and the staff at the breakfast restaurant was helpful. Stayed in a single room for 3 nights. Room was clean and efficient. Everything was working fine. Bathroom is of the standard Japanese modular type with basic amenities provided. There was hot water boiling facility and hairdryer too. Didn't get the noise from the street in my room. Not sure about wifi as I had my own rental wifi but most importantly, there was more than enough sockets available to charge my many gadgets.

The free breakfast was thoughtful and lovely which consisted of bread with jam or butter, mashed potato, hard boiled egg and coffee/tea. You might have to share your table with other hotel guests due to the small dining area and limited seats.

Being a more outdated hotel, access to the room was still via key and lockset. Not a big deal but it also means you have to manually find the light switches yourself. When I first entered the room, only the bathroom light was on and the entire room was pretty dim, adding that the room was outdated, the sight was quite a turn-off for me. Had to borrow light from the corridor. The main room light switch is not on the wall next to the door, those were only the bathroom light switches. They are actually located at the bed headrest, which is facing away from the room door and you can't possibly see it from where you are standing. Now that I know where the light switches are, coming back to a dim room for the subsequent nights was not a problem for me.

Dear Guest,

First and foremost, thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We endeavour to provide the best services to our guests so your feedback goes a long way in ensuring we maintain a constant high standard of service!

We are happy that you found our location convenient, with all the necessary amenities within a stone's throw. Although our hotel may be a little bit old, we do regular maintenance to ensure that our facilities run smoothly so as not to inconvenience our guests. We do provide free high speed wifi, so please feel free to tap on that the next time you stay at our hotel.

Being a no frills hotel, we do not operate a restaurant, hence our dining area is a little cramped. However we appreciate your understanding on this, as the breakfast service is an extra service we provide to the guests,

We note your comments on the lighting, and as such plans are underway to change our current lighting systems to LED lights which would improve the brightness of our rooms.

Thank you once again for taking the time to review our hotel, and more importantly, for choosing Hotel Nissei for your stay in Osaka. We hope to have the chance to serve you again sometime in the foreseeable future!

Best Regards,

Raymond Chua

Make sure you double, triple, quadruple ask for a NON SMOKING room. I asked upon booking, and when we arrived, and got the most disgusting smelling room Ive ever had to endure. It made me cough and the smell stuck to my clothes and luggage. They moved me the second night thank goodness, and the next room was fine, but nothing special. Small, but ok. 24 hour Staff were very helpful, relatively good English, though they make you give your keys to them upon every outing, no matter how long you will be. Alcohol vending machine in reception was handy, as was a little cupboard of small sweet and savoury snackfoods which are all 150yen. Cute little sake bar in the closest alley when you walk out called 'Bamboo' do try it. Cheap and very authentic and only locals usually in there. Good location this hotel, wifi is strong, and they did allow me have a super late check out free of charge when I was incredibly hungover without even asking for one. So despite the inital shock of the first night in the gross smoking room, my stay was fine for the price and location. Dont expect much from the free breakfast daily, you go downstairs to an empty kitchenroom and serve yourself as many boiled eggs, toasted bread buns with jam, orange juice, coffee, and potato salad as you can, at least its free ;)

Dear Guest,

Thank you for choosing Hotel Nissei for your visit to Osaka. We hope you enjoyed your stay at our hotel, and would like to thank you for taking the time to review our establishment.

We apologise for allocating you a smoking room in the first instance. We seek your understanding for our mistake and having spoken to the staff, we will endeavour to not repeat our oversight. In any case, we have also purchased new air purifying units to cleanse the smoke from our rooms.

We are glad to hear that you found our hotel conveniently located. We pride ourselves on our location and service, and are delighted that you have taken the time to acknowledge that. We are also happy that you found our drink machine as well as snack bar helpful during your stay. We do our best to accommodate our guests in all their needs, so we really appreciate your feedback.

We are also happy to hear that you enjoyed your time at Bamboo sake bar. In all honesty, I have not been to that establishment, but having heard your rave reviews about it, I would visit sometime in the near future!

Thank you once again for choosing our hotel for your stay in Osaka, we hope to have the pleasure of serving you again very soon!

This hotel is a pretty standard business hotel. The room is small, and a bit worn down, but it's clean, and in a great location. There was in room wifi, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. It's in a central location right near Namba station, so sightseeing and travel in and out of Osaka is very easy. You are a short walk from Dotonbori, and the neighborhood surrounding it is full of great restaurants and bars. Right around the corner from the hotel was a bar called "Suntory Chain Bar" - awesome bartender and fun karaoke.

iI stayed at the hotel on 25th spril 2014 in a single room.the room was small but cosy and clean.breakfast was free and delicious buffet.very near to namba station.abundant food shops nearby. Some of the staff csn speak english.they guided me well by supplying map.I cannot forget Mr.Awazi, who was polite and friendly and speaks good english. only cons is that the AC did not work,so i had to keep the window open always. After 8 am it became unbearable to remain inside the room due to direct sunlight as i was given a room in east side.So i had to leave the room early. however it was ok.

This is a small hotel located in the center of Namba, one of the most lively districts of Osaka. The location is just fantastic. Only 15 minutes from JR-Namba station (where you can arrive with JR lines, so covered by the JR Pass) and at a walking distance from Shinsekai and the Tsutenkaku tower, Den Den Town (the Akihabara of Osaka), and Dotonbori (the best spot for shopping and have dinner). The hotel, however, is a modest one. Rooms are tiny (slightly bigger than the size of the bed) but clean, and breakfast is under average (just bread, butter, jam and eggs). Moreover, rooms are noisy. Anyway, if you plan to stay out all day and just come to the hotel for sleeping, this might be a great choice.

We are glad to see that you found our hotel location to be convenient and our service staff attentive to your needs. The rooms are admittedly a little small, however we hope you found them adequate enough for your stay.
