“Great hotel to stay With Excellent and Sincere hospitality.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2014

I really like this hotel. The main thing that strikes me is that their excellent and sincere hospitality that you can find across the hotel staff. They are very attentive, helpful and always offer you help, even for small things like offering you to take your family picture without being asked. They are very warm, nice and you can feel sincerity in their greetings, which I barely find in many other hotels, even compare to Five-stars world class chain hotels. This makes me feel accepted and feels like at home.

The hotel has new design and very clean with a comfortable room.
Again, you will see this hotel is prepared with thoughts and concern with family. For example, in their bathroom, they have short-staircase for small kids to reach the washbasin, provides colorful glasses and colorful tooth brushes which attractive for kids, provides face soap in addition to standard body soap and shampoo, etc.

The location is very strategic as it sits across Universal Studio Osaka and across Japan Rail Station and Universal Citywalk, where you can find many good restaurants, convenient store, Starbucks. So it makes your life easy.

Right next the Universal Studio. A very convenient hotel to stay if you are going to Universal Studio. A little far from city but the train station is just less than 5 minutes away, so not a big deal.

Plenty of restaurants nearby and Lawson's is just next to the train station.

The room is OK and quite comfortable.

We booked this hotel based on the great reviews. If you are planning on visiting Universal Studios, this is obviously a great location, however it is a good 15 minutes from the city centre by train (and one switch) so think carefully about the purpose of your visit.

As an English speaking guest, there was not one English speaking TV channel (or movie option), the room was very small (although spotlessly clean) and the pillows were like sacks of cement. Limited to no tea and coffee making facilities and extremely poor room service (more like a deli selection delivered in brown paper bags).

If you are seeking more of the real experience of Japan, I would recommend staying in the heart of Osaka as even the restaurants in this area are mainly all 'western' and 'fast food' types.

Given the other reviews of the hotel, we were surprised - and not necessarily in a good way.

It is one property which you would not want to check out from...a huge lobby which itself makes you feel grand. The rooms are beautifully done with french windows & if you are lucky, the view of the Universal studio is just beautiful. Get rooms on higher floors which will give you a great view of the Roller coaster which makes you Awed.....really good

Room Tip: Get rooms on higher floors

I manage to get a good rate for our last stop and 3 night stay. After staying in 5 other hotels for our 11 day trip, the children were delighted with our final stay. Not only it is clean, spacious, it is near to our next stop USJ. For other things, just cross the road to Hotel Keihan and you can get food and Lawson is there too. Don't forget to take some picture be it inside the room or in the hotel lobby and entrance area, great picture taking spot in all.

Stayed here with the wife and two kids.

The Ups: It’s a short walk to Universal Studios Japan. (Hotel Keihan and Hotel Kintetsu might be right up there in front of the theme park but this hotel is newer). You can also buy your tickets for USJ at the ground floor.

The Captain Line ferry port is right behind hotel. This allows you easy access to Osaka Aquarium and Tempozan Market; the ferry leaves every hour, on the hour until 8pm.

Its also a very short walk from the subway station, and a bus service to Kansai Airport is available at nearby Hotel Kintetsu. Suggest you ask for schedules at the concierge.

Its right where you want to be.

The room is spacious enough, the sofa converted into an extra bed (which is actually a good spot to sleep in, as its right beside the window and provides you a good view of the river and a spectacular view of the skyline at night).

There are vending machines on ground floor and on each floor near the elevators. Might not be something you’d expect from a hotel like this but believe me, there are advantages to this.

The hotel has a good breakfast spread served on the second floor. But there’s no omelet chef/counter for those who look forward to this for their breakfast. Tables appear to be fast food chain-themed, which appeals to the kids.

The Downs: There is no complimentary water, although room card says tap water is potable (in some ways this should also be on The Ups; sort of brings you back to your childhood days when you can still drink from the tap).

The restroom is separate from the shower/bath, which I find rather inconvenient. The walls appear thin; you can hear the voices of people passing through the hallway. Lights on the hallway to the door turn on and off automatically, but some just lights won't turn off.

The TV remote has only Japanese characters and we had difficulty figuring out how to get English channels. We called front lobby which then sent a staff member to show us how English can be inputted through the remote control. But even then, there is only a handful of English channels, and I've been able to access only two.

Wifi is free, but the signal can get spotty. Electrical outlets are in awkward locations (behind TV, near the floor on the hallway).

Overall, Im quite happy we got to book a room in this hotel. It convenience alone, location-wise (for both Universal Studios and Osaka Aquarium), is enough to justify a stay here.
