“Window shopping”
Reviewed November 24, 2013

This covered street attracts the young 20 and 30-somethings. I enjoyed window shopping, people watching, and walking here. Although crowded, there were many interesting stores in all price ranges.

“Busy, bustling and crowded in the Minami area of Osaka”
Reviewed November 22, 2013

The stretch from Takashimaya Department Store in Namba to the Tokyu Hands store at Shinsaibashi is one long pedestrian arcade lined with shops and restaurants galore. You may see some of the local culture--including the one about queuing for the latest fad. (I remember when the Crispy Crème Doughnut shop opened and there was a queue outside.) Walkable, but not for the crowd-phobic. You can get a good idea of the ultra modern, ultra fast-pace of Osaka from the area. Stop along the way for refreshments like crepes, the latest Choux Cream Puff/Pastry of the Moment or whatever catches your eye. In the evening, you will probably encounter lots of people at Dotombori but the crowds thin out by the time you hit Shinsaibashi and the Crysta Nagahori Underground Shopping Arcade. Shops here feature cheaper options, especially the beauty products from pharmacies like Matsumoto Kyoshi. Alternatively, the Daimaru Department Store and the branded good stores at the end of the walk showcase the best of aspirational living.

“Sheltered shopping street”
Reviewed November 20, 2013

There's a few cheap local restaurant/bento shop (& a 3 storey high Daiso building) on the street after Uniqlo/H&M. You just need to keep walking forward after crossing the street.Cosmetics is cheaper on this side of Shinsaibashi than the one nearer to Dotonburi. You might want to go there and have a look before buying.
Most people will start/end at Daimaru as it is where the subway exit located but I think there is the more touristy side of Shinsaibashi street.
