“Overwhelming!”
Reviewed October 27, 2012

This place is incredible. If you come to Osaka for shopping, you must come to Shinsaibashi. Even if you're not into shopping, it's amazing to walk along this covered arcade for all its colour, atmosphere, people-watching... The area near the bridge over the water is especially awesome at night, with the neon lights and huge advertisements. Truly a temple to consumerism.

“Favourite shopping place”

We went there just after New Year's and sales were happening!!
I like the idea of lucky bags offered by shops as part of the NY's sales.
Lucky bags basically have items (like clothes - different types) for sales which have been marked down considerable.

Some shops let you see the contents of the lucky bags but some don't (because they are sold cheaper maybe? - just from what I have observed).

There are lots of shops to choose from and restaurants/cafes to have meals. The other areas are nearby thus giving you more chances to go for more shopping and eating! =3

Note: You will find these lucky bags all over Japan as part of the NY's sales!

“Trendy area with lots of great happening shops.”

America town or Amerikamura is the heart of the trendy, young Osaka. Located north of Namba in walking distance, this are has plenty of small fashion stores that sell new and pre owned items that are loved by the young and young at heart. Make sure to go down the smaller, narrow streets leading off from the main street. (The Apple Osaka store and Daimaru are located on the main road). Head west from this main road and you are in the heart of Americatown. There is a replica statue of liberty so when you see it, you know you are in America town. Loved the place and can't wait to go back in 2013.
