Reviewed December 28, 2013

After few days of "temple-walking" in Kyoto & Osaka, had been immune with the nice view... Anyway, if time is allow, walk around & snap some photos are great & fun... walk from here to Shinseki is a nice walk ... feel the neighbourhood..

“Nothing much to see”
Reviewed November 20, 2013

There's nothing special about this temple unless you like Pagoda. You can skip this place if you have not enough time.

“Can skip this place if not much time!”
Reviewed November 13, 2013

we are using the osaka unlimited pass to get into this temple & the Honbo garden. it just took us less than 10 mins to discover the pagoda.
outside the temple there are some shrine, a pond with many turtles and the surrounding was peaceful and quite.
Nothing much to see in the garden, just a few buildings and some trees.
we pass by some cemetery on the way to this temple from 四天王寺前夕陽ヶ丘駅 Station. no signboard from subway to this temple. just ask around the local people to get here. not recommended if you short of time in Osaka. you can see more nice temple in Kyoto.

“Sure there's a pagoda you can go in, but look at all those turtles!”
Reviewed October 7, 2013 via mobile

I've never seen so many turtles in my life.
Also the pagoda is like 5 stories of stairs for very little pay off. It's cramped, hot, not much to see and if you're of average westerner height you will probably bang your head a few times.
It looks nice from the outside though, and for 300¥ a person it might be worth the money just to say you went in there. There are lanterns hanging up around the perimeter of the inner area that probably look great all lit up. However it closes before nightfall so you'll probably only see them lit for a special occasion.
There are some dimly lit buildings to go into with impressive statues and from what I can tell the story of the Shakyamuni Buddha in wall murals.
The turtles really make the temple worth seeing though. When you approach they look up at you and swim over. We didn't have any food for them but it's obvious they are used to guests feeding them.
This temple is a short distance from what looks like a Daikon(radish) temple that I don't think is listed. (It's right by the graveyard, which is impressive of its own right) Check that out too, when are you going to get a chance to see another radish temple?
