This is lovely little shrine area, just a few stations south of the Nankai train terminus in Namba. We went on a Sunday, and many families were bringing their young ones in beautiful traditional dress to receive blessings. It was really a joyful place.

I went! I saw! It's not really touristy! There weren't a lot of people! But in my opinion, it's really not a MUST see. Some of it was interesting....but I don't know....nothing really struck me as I MUST COME! about this shrine. It's not a bad place to visit if you live in Osaka, but I wouldn't go if you're pressed for time.

It is about 30 min from Osaka JR station. After getting off the station, the Shrine was less than 2 minutes on the left. Once you cross the main road where the tramway goes through, the entrance to the Shrine was there.

The main attraction is the arch bridge. It was almost half a circle. It is very steep to get up and down. The reflection of the bridge on the water makes the "postcard" pictures. Beyond the bridge is the shrine. you can walk around the ground watching people praying, asking for blessing, etc.

We made the trek over to the shrine and loved it. It was quiet and not full of school children and the koi were mesmerizing.

Sumiyoshi Taisha was a neat attraction to see in Osaka. It's their most famous shrine and the scenery here is beautiful. The signature bridge did not disappoint.
