Owner description: Once the largest castle in Japan when originally built in the 1580s, this castle has an observation platform with city views and a history museum that uses holograms, 3D pictures and other technologies to describe the history of the castle and the period during which it was built.

Not the greatest thing I visited during my trip, but definitely beautiful. The walk up (the hill and the stairs) was incredibly tiring, though, so make sure you're wearing proper gear. Also, the museum inside the castle would probably be a lot more interesting if you either spoke Japanese, or know someone who can explain.
Personally, the surrounding park was a lot more fun for me. The view from the top is beautiful, though!

We`reached Osaka early and since hotel checkin at 3pm (unlike in Malaysia or in amsterdam or many other countries we have been) in Japan, if there is room available, they still wont give it to you unless you PAY!!)

before you do anytjign else, head straight to tourist information centre and grab the EXPLORER OSAKA free guide. All the tourists interests all printed and listed with maps and well covered.

Apart from the castle which is rather iconic, explore th surroudings of parks and far view of Osaka city.

Walked around the large park and be supprised by the huge rocks the used as barriers. Also went into the castle which is a real museum. The only moment you feel like you're in a castle is on the top floor. You'll have a great view over the city. It's worth a visit!

Not so much to see inside the castle but I highly recommend walking around the grounds and parkland. There are many interesting sights and they are all free.

the osaka castle is something you cannot miss if you ever visit Japan. the view from the top of osaka city is breathtaking and the castle park is lovely too. you may need to put on a pair of good walking shoes though as it can be quite a steep walk up. well my parents and 4year old didnt seem to have a problem.
