This is the highlight of the Osaka with shinny golden statues on it. You could get beatiful photos from this castle if you go to the garden just near the castle especally at the end of March or early april when cherry blossoms are providing a beautiful background. The castle itself is average.

“Monumental and Beautiful Plum Grove”
Reviewed March 26, 2013

My previous two visits were part of a group tour and time were limited. We decided to come again by ourselves in February partly to also enjoy the flower blossom (in the Plum Glove). The flower blossom just began in early January so we miss the more spectacular period later. Nevertheless, it was quite beautiful already. The great stone wall is always an amazing site and inner stone wall at the Sakuramon (Southern) Gate is so impressive that we had to take pictures of it again for the third time! Upon entering the main tower, everyone is asked to take the elevator to the middle top floor and you can climb another one or two levels to reach the top which offers excellent view. There are plenty of historic artifacts to learn about within the tower as you descend back to the ground. We allowed for 3 hours here and we had to rush a bit. If you are thinking of thinking of also seeing Osaka by boat, the Aqua Liner station is just next to the Osaka Castle Park Train Station.

“interesting time”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

The castle has been renovated on the inside. It makes for a very interesting and informative museum inside, but has no authentic feel.

“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

This castle is a very historic attraction in Osaka complete with moat. The surrounding grounds are very large and beautiful, especially the plum blossum gardens and traditional Japanese gardens. There is a lovely lookout at the top of the castle giving wonderful views over the city.

“Must visit in Osaka”
Reviewed March 18, 2013 via mobile

Took train from Umeda through JR Osaka loop line to kyobashi, just a short walk to the castle. What a nice view with sakura starting to bloom. It would be in full bloom in few week time because the weather is still cold in March. Interesting castle to visit. I like it.
