“Osaka castle”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2012

We flew from Aomori to Osaka, and stayed at the Mitsui Garden hotel. Osaka is the largest city in Japan, and there is so much to see. Our hotel was by the river and we took the boat to Osaka castle a wonderful building, and it is huge. You can go inside the building which is a museum.
There are cafes and shops in the grounds. The castle stands surrounded by water. There are also gardens to walk in. From the top you get lovely views of the area. A must to see when visiting Osaka.

“Osaka Castle is beautiful - dont miss out!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 18, 2012

If you are going to Osaka, you must visit Osaka Castle.
The previous few reviewers all had negative comments which prompt me to write a review.

Honestly it is not expensive, if you have purchased the Kansai Pass, it allows free admission.

I love how there are various attractions in Osaka you can find the souvenir stamp - so I had been collecting all these stamps ( stamp with ink pad). You will be able to find it in Osaka Castle. There are 3 different stamps and I stamped them all ! So pretty!

Osaka Castle is very nice as each level has very details history. Its not overwhelming but enough for everyone to have some knowledge of its history. I really enjoyed the walk. Also going up to the top part of the Castle of the viewing deck is wonderful. I went when there was cherry blossoms so it made the visit more beautiful and serene.

Outside Osaka Castle there was a big cherry blossom (fully bloom) and many people were taking photographs. Some japanese people wore kimono's to take photos and so I took photos of them! Very pretty.
We also witness a couple getting engaged under the cherry blossom overlooking the Osaka Castle. The girlfriend was soo shocked she was embarrassed because so many people was around and watching. I thought it was very romantic.

Afterwards we walked to the park and spent about 1.5hrs sitting there under all the the beautiful blossom trees, resting and taking photos! There were alot of families all gathered around having picnic. It was a very nice relaxing afternoon. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

“Waste of money- best view is from free park outside”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 12, 2012

Don't waste your time or money! The best views of the castle are from the free park area after the first gate. It was 600 yen for an adult...total rip off. Inside is over heated with a few displays. The displays on the screens were broken. You have to use the stairs and are forced to start on the 5th floor of 8. View from the top over osaka is the only nice bit but you can get that from the walls in the surrounding park.

“Nice view, that's about it.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 9, 2012 via mobile

The castle is a good 20min walk from jr station. It's a nice castle, the most impressive is the huge moat around it.

You can walk up to the castle without paying. The 600 yen to go inside is a bit steep, most of it is in Japanese anyways. It does have a good view over Osaka though. Let's you get your barrings.

“Slightly disappointing”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 7, 2012

Very crowded and did not feel any where near as interesting as Himeji Castle. It's obviously a modern rebuild, and felt more like a theme park. Copious amounts of Japanese feudal history, alas very little in English.
