“Love it!”

I've been to the Monterey Bay aquarium and the one up in Seattle. The Osaka one is pretty great, though I didn't have to deal with any crowds. Food is the #1 attraction in Osaka and the aquarium is a surprising 2nd.

“Size does not matter Singapore”
Reviewed November 29, 2013

Let's face it. Aquariums have sprouted in most cities globally from my homeland Kuala Lumpur to Singapore to Australia. But in my opinion, the Kaiyukan takes the podium. Yes, it does not have the largest tank as what Singapore Oceanarium had right now but it certainly feels that it was constructed for a genuine need of studying and preservation of our ocean and mother earth. They have a pretty huge tank with huge Whale Sharks and huge stingrays which appeared well taken care of. The divers were cleaning the tank. The seal trainers appeared bonded with their animal. At the end of the 6-7 storey exhibits, there is a section on the disappearing Falklands and Mauritious region which is worth reading.

Just incredible, don't miss out. The whale sharks and the other species on offer is amazing. The spider crabs were incredible too!

“Plexiglass Nightmare”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

Too expensive, too crowded, and not enough starfish.
Or sea-stars. Whatever.
Went there wanting to see starfish, was promised starfish, did not see hardly any starfish.
The jellyfish were pretty cool, that's why this I'm giving this two stars instead of one.

I'm also giving this two stars for the TWO starfish that I got to see there.

Get your act together, Kaiyukan.

“Must see in Osaka”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

Large selection of marine life represented here although most of the sharks shown are baby sharks (of course it's understandable). I do appreciate that they take effort to have english translations in the labels all through out the facility. Transportation - take the Chuo Line to Osakaku station and walk from there to the Kaiyukan (the Osaka Aquarium)
