It was really crowded since it was the last week of summer holiday so inside the Kaiyukan even thou' it was air conditioner we were squeezed pretty bad, and the kids having difficulties to see everything there. but there's a lot of unique sea creatures that we really like such as the jelly fish. I never knew there's so much variety of jelly fishes and I'm amazed, but the big giant fist shown on the web, well let's just say, it's not that big and as awesome, especially if you have to squeeze your way to look at it.

A really lovely experience... and a nice area to visit the bay area is quite lovely.
Universal studios is just a train ride away or a taxi over the bridge. A nice day to spend the morning takes about 1-2 hours to look through the whole thing.

We've been to quite a number of Aquariums, including Singapore and Sydney, but this one clearly is our favorite. The water tanks are huge and offers great views of the different fishes. The variety of marine life is amazing, including really gigantic crabs.

Highly recommended if you are in Osaka and a visit to an Aquarium is something that appeals to you. Not many tourist attractions in Osaka are truly world class. This one is.

we took the chuo subway line to get to Osakao station, and from there it was a 10 minute walk to the aquarium. admission 2000 yen.

the place was huge and the exhibits were set up like the pacific ring of fire. the star of the show was of course Yu-chan, their whale shark. we were there in the early afternoon and were lucky enough to see the whale filter-feed while swimming vertically in the tank. it was an awesome sight to behold, and one i'd like to see again. Yu-chan shared the tank with an enormous school of little fish, some sharks and a gigantic ray (nanyo manta -- amazing, and a little scary). other crowd favorites were the sea otters (so so so cute, they looked and acted like cartoons), the dolphins, the penguins, the arapaimas, and the jellyfish. my personal favorite was the ocean sunfish.
