If possible head there during the week to avoid huge crowds. After 5 pm there is a discount for couples or pairs of people. It stays open till 8 most nights.

When we went it was not busy at all and they have a great collection of sea life. The otters are hilarious, the sea lions and dolphins you get to see up close. The whale shark is not the biggest but it is still impressive and a worthy 'headliner.' The true treats for us were the spider crabs (they are active, huge, and creepy!), and the various types of cool jellyfish displays. It took us 3 hrs to take it all in and I'd recommend it.

The exhibits are nice and cleverly designed. It's an interesting journey through the different zones of the exhibits.
I am not sure if all displays are really suitable for the animals. The Penguin enclosure and the dolphin pool looked fairly small for the amount of animals.
The main attraction is the large with the Whale Shark. This is a large pool but surely a Whale Shark will need that.
The biggest drawback for me were the masses of people (went on a Saturday)

I visited during a weekday where there were many school children but i could still see everything as I was much taller. I had a burrito in the eatery and it was good. The sea life was amazing and the aquarium was well set up. The whale shark was not as big as I had imagined as it was only young and I felt sorry for the manta ray as you could see it was going crazy been stuck in a little tank but it was still very rewarding to watch one.

The sardine tank was super amazing. There were like 23,054 sardines and a few anchovies swimming around in circles.

The penguins and dolphins were very active and a lot of fun.

Thank you.

The Kaiyukan Aquarium is fantastic, with thousand of fish in the big tank. We can even see the diver in the huge tank doing daily cleaning work. There are many fish that we never seen before but in this aquarium, you can get really close with the fish.
