Was in Osaka for a food trip and stayed at the Namba Oriental Hotel. It has a great location as it is near all the train and subway stops, all the best shopping places including my dear dear Takashimaya and lots and lots of food shops from ramen, yaki to chicken fries to my favorite killer soft serve ice creams.
The hotel is right beside a 24 hour macdonalds and lawson...how convenient can it be!!!
Rooms were big for japanese standards. No fuss, no extras ...wish there was a room safe and room wifi though. otherwise excellent value for money and really great location!

Room Tip: doesn't matter as all rooms look a like

Excellent location, close to the train stations, shops and restaurants. I was a bit concerned that the hotel will be noisy considering that it is literally inside the shopping area. It was exceptionally quiet. The hotel lobby is on the 3rd floor which is a bit odd and it is a bit stuffy. The room actually is better than the lobby area. The room is pretty spacious and bigger than I expected for a downtown location. The room is clean and modern looking and equipped with tea/coffee. The bathroom is also stocked with essentials and bath salt if you want to soak in the bath tub.

Book this hotel for the 2nd time I am in Osaka. This time I do have a few complaints to give. First our standard room looks neat and clean however, if you look underneath the beds some dirt were not cleaned thoroughly. The room is also warm and stuffy as the temperature cannot be turned below 24 C. I think it was centrally controlled. We were advised by the front desk the next day to just turn off the thermostat and open the window. This works good but the outside noise at night is annoying. We could hear cars moving and passersby at late night talking loudly. We were at the 6th floor. Location wise it is good but I think Umeda area is much better if you plan on travelling to Kyoto, Nara, and other places as it is more centrally located for the trains. The real good thing for this hotel is we got it at a decent price of $111 net per night so for the price, location and familiarity of the place it is quite good. Room size is just fine about 20 sq. mtr including the toilet already. It is quite small for most visitor but for Japanese hotels it is already quite good.

Our overall stay exceeded my expectation. Rooms were clean, bed was a little narrow than the usual and the staff was very accommodating with our requests.
Location is very accessible from the train station. You could easily spot the hotel thus walkable from Namba station from Kansai Airport via Nankai line.
There's restaurants left and right - perfect for foodie like me. Arcades and BIC (electronic heaven) around the corner! I'd definitely stay again in my next visit.

Excellent hotel as a base to explore osaka and surrounding areas. Food & entertainment outlets available as you step out of hotel. Rooms are big for Japan standards. Subway, Takashimaya, Kuromon market , Dotonbori, shinsaibashi within 3 minute walk. Hotel rates very reasonable for its location.
