We stayed at the Namba Orienal for 2 nights in October 07. Thank you to all other reviewers who included instructions for getting to the hotel - a life saver. Don't let that put you off staying though, it isn't that hard to find. Essentially, the hotel has everything a tourist could want, if you aren't fussed about fancy fittings and minimalist arty decor, this is the place to stay.

Room was clean and had a good bathroom. Comfortable mattress, pillows not so good. The front desk was helpful. Keep in mind that they charge you on arrival rather than check out. I would recommend booking directly with the hotel it is much cheaper than on other hotel booking sites.

The included breakfast is in a restaurant on the second floor of the connected mall. Good for Japanese cuisine but not if you are into a western style breakfast (some eggs, ham, sweet white bread and cornflakes) but otherwise give it a go!

The biggest bonus is the location. You are right in the middle of all the action, and Osaka is a great vibrant city. It is really good to be able to walk out of your door and be in the middle of the nightlife. It is also a 5 minute walk to the Nankai line to get you to Kansai airport.

The only downside is the Pachinko cigarette smell which permeates the ground floor and elevator (the games room is on the B1 floor). Just hold your nose till you get to the 3rd floor lobby and you will survive!

This was an excellent choice. Located between 3 subway lines and in the center of a shopping arcade surrounded by many shopping and dining choices, you cant beat this location. Its minutes away from the riverfront and the food market. And to top it off, the hotel was great. Our room was a good size with a good sized bathroom, very modern and clean. The hotel staff was very cheerful and helpful and it even came with a free japanese/american breakfast. I booked it on asiarooms.com and paid $143 a night. It was well worth it and I would
stay there again and again.

Affordable, quick access to airport and polite staff. Excellent location to get a feel of crazy Osaka entertainment district, I recommend it for the professional who needs a good night's sleep on a budget. The next day I developed a rash, cant say for sure it was from the sheets/towels at the hotel though, maybe it was some bad sushi...

Good hotel, as everyone else says. BUT it's hard to find, as it's located in the middle of a walking mall. Our taxi dropped us off at the mall's entrance, but since we didn't speak any Japanese, the driver's pointing was confusing. Just walk into the mall and go halfway down. Otherwise, take the metro from the Shin-Osaka JR station (line M, station M13) and get off at the Namba stop (station M20). From there, take exit B21 (not to be confused with just exit 21!), which will put you at the mouth of the mall. Once we got to the hotel, the staff gave us a great map that shows these directions; see if you can have them email it to you. The staff was very helpful with directions and speak good English.

This hotel was situated perfectly for partying with my Osaka friends. The famous Dotombori arcade area is right out the door! Namba station is also very near so you can get anywhere in Osaka easily from this location. Another big plus is Nankai station where you catch the special Kansai airport train. It's literally a five minute walk away!!
