Hotel Granvia Osaka
Ranked #46 of 354 Hotels / Ryokan in Osaka
Reviewed May 5, 2014

Hotel Granvia is located within the huge Osaka station which is linked to Umeda subway station & many department stores ( each of them with their own floors of restaurants ). One also has access to many cafes, even more restaurants and an underground shopping arcade from here.

Hotel staff is friendly and helpful but speaks limited English. The service is a little slow especially for more complicated requests but they do try their best. We had a standard double room and it was small. The bed is also very small even by Japanese standard so expect to snuggle more than usual if you are sharing the bed ! Having said that, the room is basic but clean. No English channel on the TV except for BBC ( I think ) but that was not much of an issue for us. Breakfast was decent, according to my husband. This seems more like a business hotel as the lobby gets very crowded in the morning with business folks checking in and out. Left luggage is available even after check out so that helps with those intending to explore more of the city before heading to the airport or taking the train to somewhere else.

Overall, Hotel Granvia offers basic, decent accomodation and is best reviewed for its convenient location as well as easy access to shopping and public transport.

4/29 - 5/2 stay was most pleasant. Though small by our standards, even smaller than the cruise ship cabin, it was comfortable, clean, wonderful bed.....and terrific bath! It is gonna' cost me though! Wife absolutely loved the automated, heated, cooled, bidet, etc. commode!
We will want to install one at home.

our room on the Granvia level was situated on an inside courtyard and hence no view but since all we did was sleep, etc. was not a problem. Check-in was quite efficient though modest English by the clerks caused some concern that the answers to some questions left some doubt. However, using the info received we were able to achieve our requirements.

The lounge provided a variety of beverages, a great coffee-expresso-cocoa machine and soft drinks were enjoyed between 0700 and 2100. Unfortunately for us, we found it necessary to leave earlier and/or return later than these hours.

We did not eat in their restaurant, choosing instead to walk into the mall located directly under the Granvia and part of a huge rail terminal and select 'local' type eateries...... This rail terminal allows connections to a host of other areas and makes for great convenience.

The local tour company uses the Granvia as one of its pick-up locations which was the reason I booked there in the first place.

Over all, I'd stay here again.

Room Tip: If you want a 'view' select an outside room at a higher price.

We stayred four nights and tried both the Granvia (top floor) and non-granvia (25th floor) rooms of this hotel. We found it to be compact, efficient and a wonderful stay despite our not having a "view" room. Rooms are not big but just right. Our non-granvia room even had its own massage chair which was just great! Toiletries were fantastic and wifi was fast! No other hotel in the area beats its location as it inside the train station. Good eats, convenience store and shopping areas are just within the same OSAKA station city. There is even a water fountain show outside the establishment as well which I greatly enjoyed watching. A bit expensive, but nothing is cheap in Japan anyway :)

Room Tip: If you need a view, prepare to pay more...for the non-granvia rooms, double beds are a bit on the sm...

My family and I stayed for 1 night (4/6/14-4/7/14) at the Granvia Floor (27th floor) and the rooms we got were spectacular!!!!!!! The view from our windows were beautiful. We asked for a King size bed room and 2 twin beds room and the 2 twin beds room were bigger than the King size bed room. The twin beds room also came with complimentary single-serve coffee brewing system. We switched the King to the Twin room. It is well worth the $50 price difference.

We would stay here again. Great location!

The front desk works fast and very efficient. The hotel rooms starts on the 27th floor. Two sets of elevators of 4. One set of elevators goes to the hotel rooms, the other set of 4 is connected to DAIMARU department store. If you want to stay where everything is located, this is the place for you. The 1st floor is connected to the train station, food, shops are everywhere. However, for me, I find too much people traffic confusing and not relaxing. I had to memorize and distinguish the north gate and the south gate entrance in order not to get lost. If you are in the middle of people walking and rushing to catch the train, you are bound to get tired easily.

The Granvia Floor at Level 27 is equivalent to having another hotel within the Granvia Osaka. With far better rooms, and far better staff manning the executive lounge equivalent to a reception and concierge desk rolled into one. I found the staff at the main reception on the ground floor to be vastly inferior to the staff on the Granvia Floor - the staff on the ground floor are weak in English and inexperienced in handling unusual questions. The staff at the Granvia floor were able to direct me immediately to ATM machines which recognize non- domestic ATM cards. They were able to accompany my young son to the Limousine Bus Terminal to board the coach to the airport. They were able to break open the lock of my wife's bag within 5 minutes of my request. The service was simply excellent.

The room and bathroom are large by Japanese business class hotel standards. The room is modern in design with good lighting, and quality finishes. The view from the window is panoramic. The bed is very comfortable

I believe that the non Granvia rooms and floor are significantly inferior

The location of the hotel is excellent if you need the JR train service as its literally above the train station. All subway lines hub here.

The location is also excellent if you want to shop at Daimaru and Isetan Mitsukoshi. Daimaru is in the same tower. Mitsukoshi is within the same complex. It's also an easy walk to Hankyu. There are restaurants everywhere.

This is a highly recommended hotel provided you stay on the Granvia Floor
