We stayed here on April 3, the last day of a post cruise tour.We had a wonderful overnight stay.
We were on the 14th floor and had a great view overlooking the river. Our room was a nice size, very clean and the bed was comfortable, and also had a coffee/tea maker.Enjoyed a very nice walk along the river in the evening. The Flying Tomato restaurant had a good selection for the breakfast buffet.
Given the opportunity we would stay here again.

Grand hotel, nice room, good sized. No ironing board if that's important to you. Very nice restaurants and about a dozen upscale shops in the lower level. Very clean. If you're looking for a coffee/Starbucks etc outside the hotel there's really nothing close by, was told it was about a 10 minute walk. Good breakfast buffet but relatively small selection.Would definitely stay here again.

I was fortunate to visit Japan after so many years. I checked into this hotel last early March and spent 3 nights there. The hotel is situated in a quiet neighborhood and there are no shopping areas or restaurants nearby. But the hotel is grand and elegant. The lobby is sublime and especially the flower centerpiece. Its beautifully made by a Japanese artist. I think it changes according to season. The hotel rooms are huge for japan standards. I got a view facing the river and i enjoyed it looking out every morning because of the sunrise. I also saw some boat rowers. They were swift and strong.

I was disappointed when i was told by the hotel that the usage of the pool and gym areas requires a fee. Probably that is the Japan's norm for these facilities. Anyway, as for the daily breakfast, i was not impressed too. The flying tomato restaurant where they hold their breakfasts, offered not so many choices. Shangri-la hotels and Marco Polo hotels serve better breakfast. They should try to improve on this.

So overall, I would say that this is a business hotel and not a hotel for family vacation. Subway is far from this hotel. I never had the chance to ride it from this hotel though. I could be wrong.
Thank you for reading. God is good all the time!

Room Tip: choose the rooms facing the river and with higher floors. also request the room near the elevator because the room they gave me was "a mile away". It was pretty inconvenient.

I am staying at this hotel now. If you have decided on this hotel because it has fitness facilities which your family wishes to use then think again unless you have the budget to pay. The management will not allow use of any fitness facilities including the pool to anyone under 20 years old and you have to pay about USD 60 per person. This is not advertised on the website or advised on booking and paying on check in. We specifically booked this hotel as it has a pool & tennis courts and have been unable to use it with our seven year old twins. We travelled back a day earlier from Kyoto so our family could use these facilities.
You also have to pay an additional fee for walking into the fitness centre to have a massage( unheard of in Asia). So instead you can have the massage in your room fully clothed on the bed! There is a choice of one type of massage. No spa menu.
The bar would not allow my husband and children to have a drink in the bar as they were under 20 years old. This is not a family friendly hotel. If your looking for positives ask for a renovated room, these are a good size, comfortable beds but if you dont smoke make sure you ask for a non smoking room as the hotel has many rooms and corridors where guests smoke heavily. Disappointing.
If your looking for help with airport transfers there is no bus from the hotel to the airport. You can take the hotel shuttle bus to the train station, change , walk 5 minutes and then get another bus from the train station to the airport. I get the impression tourists aren't important to the Imperial Hotel. The private hire cars cost a small fortune.

Room Tip: Ask for renovated non smoking room.

Been stayed in this property in a mix of business trip and family vacation. One of the cleanliness hotel I have ever visit, homy, fresh scent and excellent japanese standards service. The staffs always welcome to help you with any problems or question even some of them are hard to speak english on phone. But their effort are stunning. Their every 15 minutes shuttle bus ti/from Osaka is also providing you great experience.
Unfortunately no swimming pool for people below 20 years old.

Room Tip: Ask the one facing the river, between end of Feb until March you can enjoy the view of Sakura flowers day/night time.
