“Best shopping destination in Osaka”

its sales season during January and you can shop til you drop here! You will be overwhelmed by the station size first of all, and the selections of different kinds of Japanese local brands, price from low to high, you won't be disappointed. O, and don't forget to check out their coffee shops at any of the department stores. Its kinda traditional to girls!

“Just so confusing”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2012

This is a gigantic set of skyscraper buildings set around Osaka Umeda Station and finally opened earlier this year. The shops go both underground and up to 11 floors high and in various different buildings - none of whcih seem to connect with the others. I suppose you might say it is extraordinary and you can certainly wander round for hours in the dry when its raining outside.
But is all so confusing and unlike any ordinary shopping mall. We stumbled round for 15 minutes just trying to find somewhere to eat! There appears to be no coherent plan and we were unable to find central place to find maps of where we should be going.
Do we really need such a vast panoply of shops? My response - I'm afraid - was just to want to get out of there and go somewhere on a more human scale.

Osaka Station City is more than just the train station and the north and south gate buildings.... it is also Umeda Station and the maze of connected underground passages. If it is raining or cold, you can wander inside this "underground city" for hours shopping, drinking coffee, or having a bite to eat. Other parts of Osaka also have large underground areas, but the sheer size of the Osaka/Umeda Station area is simply amazing!
