“A Sensory Treat”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2013

kuromon ichiba is a 5 min walk from Nipponbashi subway station. It is a sensory treat as you get to see and sample local Japanese delicacies - pickled vegetables, fresh fish including fugu and beef. I liked the way the Japanese layout their produce. Checkout the juicy kobe beef at a corner store - cheap & good

“Don't expect Ueno”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 10, 2013 via mobile

This market is a stones throw from Swissotel Nankai Hotel. Ueno, Tokyo is my standard of flea market in Japan. Kuromon is small
Within the area are 2 larger fresh produce shops which have value for money items especially seasonal fruits. My family enjoyed bargain strawberries and juicy persimmons. There are several fresh meat and seafood sellers. Many of them offer fresh sashimi and sushi but prices are quite touristy. There was only one meat seller who also cooks the wagyu meat to order. This was the only stall we ate twice in the 8 days we stayed in Osaka.
I would definitely visit Kuromon if I stayed in the Namba area but not otherwise.

“Great place to get local food back home”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 6, 2013

I reach there at 9am and there are still a lot shops not open or ready yet.
Thus, I advise that 10am will be a better time to reach Kuromon Ichiban.

This place sell a lot of local delights.
You can buy Japan sauce, seaweed or marinated eel back to your country.

It have a lot of local food to try and at a good rate.
I have try the puffer fish which I think was not very fantastic.
You can try it out of curiosity.

I strongly recommend to try the fatty salmon sushi located opposite the pharmacy.
It is the most fattest salmon I ever seen in my life.
I almost mistaken it as fatty beef!
The moment you place it into your mouth, you can feel the tender and sweetness that you can never find in normal salmon.
The salmon sushi seems to instantly melts in my mouth.
This seafood shop do provide some tables and chairs for you to enjoy their seafood.
They also able to help you package seafood in boxes so that you can bring it back your home country!

Certainly a good place to eat and shop for local delights!
