This is an elegant 5-star downtown hotel with a very courteous, helpful staff. The room was almost hilariously over-engineered in Japanese fashion. The electronic toilet had 8 buttons on it, although multi-buttoned toilets appeared to be the norm in Japanese hotels. There is a tub and separate shower. Air conditioning was effective. Reception is on the 12th floor, and then you take a separate elevator to your room floor. Lights and curtains are controlled from a master control panel. The TV in the tub area comes with its own remote. We ate dinner in la Veduta, an unscale Italian restaurant on the 12th floor with excellent food. The menu is on an i-Pad, and the offerings change every night. There is also a less formal French restaurant on the first floor. Breakfast is served in la Veduta also, and it consists of an extensive buffet of both Japanese and Western offerings. We could find no fault with the St. Regis.
