I would recommend this hotel to people.
Firstly it was only a few minutes walk from shin-osaka station - just exit from the front exit at the 1st level, walk along a path where the train tracks should be on your left hand side, you'll get to a small dodgy looking tunnel go through it (its only a couple metres in length so no real safety issue) then take a left after getting out of the tunnel, keep going straight, cross the zebra crossing and the hotel should be right there

We stayed in a twin room - quite small not much space to walk but it didnt bother my friend and I to be honest. The two bed were seperated by the bathroom in the middle so it gave you decent privacy. Rooms were clean so no issue there. And i am someone who is quite particular about cleanliness so the fact that i was happy with it says a great deal.

Wifi was great - good speed

They offer free breakfast but its mainly got japanese food
The only western food they had was bread and butter - not even any jam so that wasnt the best but i guess it was better than nothing

Staff didnt speak much english - but that wasnt a huge issue as we rarely had to talk to the staff

The lobby had drinkin water dispensers so that was great for filling up water bottles.

Overall good hotel that had everything we needed

My friend in Japan booked this hotel for me through the internet because it is very close (5 minutes walk) to the main exit of the JR Shin Osaka station. It was not too difficult to find as there is a big neon sign with Toyoko's name on it within the view of the JR station main exit.
However, because I arrived after dark, I still took the wrong turn and lost site of the sign. Luckily a young Japanese lady not only used her cell phone app. to show me the direction but also walked me to the street where the hotel was located. This was not the first time that I had encountered locals old and young who were more than willing to get out of their way to help strangers who do not speak their language at all and I am deeply grateful. The hotel is very much the budget type with a small reception area and staff who spoke almost no English, a very small breakfast area by the entrance and a vending machine for drinks across the lift, period! The room I had was quite small but at least it had a decent bed and clean toilet. Indeed, my main boarding requirement these days is wifi service which they did provide free and kept me connected. The hotel sat on a quiet side street but there was a restaurant right across it. I had my late dinner of deep fried pork chop with rice at this restaurant which did serve a variety of Japanese food. The breakfast next morning was simple but good enough to start off one's day. I only stayed one night and felt that for the price, it was a reasonable deal for short stays.

I have stayed in 5 different Toyoko Inns in Korea & Japan and this one is surely the worst one... I booked a double room for me & my wife for a night...
All Toyoko Inns in Japan & Korea would give you a very uniform feeling... feeling of a budget hotel but also you would feel that you have got good value for money... This one fell short in many ways..
1. The room was very small... it was actually so small that in our next Toyoko Inn I asked the front desk if they upgraded us to a different room type...
2. Next day breakfast was not very good... they even stopped serving coffee mid-way through the breakfast...
3. Front desk had almost no knowledge of English and didn't have enough time to tell us about what is around... etc.. etc.. etc..
Would not come back to this property again... but Toyoko Inns are good in general...

We stayed in 3 different Toyoko Inns while traveling through Japan. As a couple staying in these hotels it worked out the same price as it would have, staying in a double room in a hostel. With the Toyoko Inn hotels you get free wifi, water and substantial breakfast. Laundry facilities on the ground floor along with drink vending machines. Clean and comfortable rooms. This one in Osaka was in easy walking distance of the train station and lots of choice of restaurants and bars.

Once again the Toyoko Inn chain will not disappoint you. Good clean room at reasonable rate. Close to Shin-Osaka station but can get quite confusing. Room is ok with all neccesary anemities.

There are very few places in Osaka where you can stay for less than 5000 Yen a night including breakfast. This Toyoko Inn is one of them, if you book online well ahead of your visit. It's a perfect business hotel in five minutes walking distance from Shin Osaka station. It's quite a new building. Beds are wide (140 cm) and rooms are spacious compared to Tokyo business hotels. There's enough storage room for your luggage under your bed, so it doesn't feel as cramped as in other places where not so much thought has been given for travellers' needs.

Service at the front desk is great. They helped me a lot after my travel plans were messed up by the great earthquake in the Northeast of Japan. There's a coin laundry on the ground floor and nearby you'll find a convenience store and some small restaurants.
