My friend in Japan booked this hotel for me through the internet because it is very close (5 minutes walk) to the main exit of the JR Shin Osaka station. It was not too difficult to find as there is a big neon sign with Toyoko's name on it within the view of the JR station main exit.
However, because I arrived after dark, I still took the wrong turn and lost site of the sign. Luckily a young Japanese lady not only used her cell phone app. to show me the direction but also walked me to the street where the hotel was located. This was not the first time that I had encountered locals old and young who were more than willing to get out of their way to help strangers who do not speak their language at all and I am deeply grateful. The hotel is very much the budget type with a small reception area and staff who spoke almost no English, a very small breakfast area by the entrance and a vending machine for drinks across the lift, period! The room I had was quite small but at least it had a decent bed and clean toilet. Indeed, my main boarding requirement these days is wifi service which they did provide free and kept me connected. The hotel sat on a quiet side street but there was a restaurant right across it. I had my late dinner of deep fried pork chop with rice at this restaurant which did serve a variety of Japanese food. The breakfast next morning was simple but good enough to start off one's day. I only stayed one night and felt that for the price, it was a reasonable deal for short stays.
