I stayed here with my 7 yr old daughter. Got a twin room and it had two almost double sized beds so we slept in one together and used the other for games etc. the room is quite big for Japanese standards. The hotel is beautiful, the staff very friendly and the location is great. Just above the train station next door to post office and close to shopping area. I would highly recommend this place to people traveling to Osaka. Also above a supermarket. I got a deal on agoda and the price was very cheap, I was so surprised at the standard for the price.

Hotel is at the end of the shopping stretch, but is still accessible. If you prefer train transport to and fro KIX, use the Nankai Railway, and walk all the way underground to the hotel which is located near the JR station. The underground is all filled with shops and restaurants.

Especially convenient is the supermarket on level one which opens until midnight, great for grabbing some food, fruits, and drinks. Surrounding neighbourhood is very good compared to most located along the Dotonbori stretch which tends towards the sleazy at night. A good choice especially for families.

While the service staff speaks some English, they are still not very proficient. Hotel rooms are spacious for Japan standards. And the lobby offers a romantic ambience especially with the indoor chapel.

Grasmere monterey is conveniently located at the center of Osaka. The rooms and toilets are not that big but they are modern and really clean.

---From the airport, you can just purchase an OCAT ticket to JR namba station for Y1,800 round-trip. Y1,000 for one-way ticket. It is a 45-minute bus ride. Once you arrive at the OCAT bus terminal, go up one level and find the jr namba exit. The hotel is located outside the bus terminal.
---Supermarket (they sell cheap but good meals), bookstore and pharmacy are located at the underground of the hotel.
---Namba walk - a long line of restaurants and shops - is another way of going to Shinsaibashi shopping district. Instead of walking outside the street, this is a safer and enjoyable way. The namba walk has the same direction as going to the train station.
---At the underground, you will also find the stations connecting to the different train lines
---Shinsaibashi shopping district and Dotombori (restaurants and bars) is around 5-10 mins walk

however, the only disadvantage is that the hotel lobby is at the 22nd floor, and you have to take another elevator to the hotel rooms.

This was the last hotel we stayed at in Osaka and I chose it due to its proximity to the Osaka City Air Terminal (OCAT). I was hoping too, that it would be near both the Namba Parks area and the Midosuji-Shinsabashi shopping area.

While the former held up to be true, the hotel was farther than I wanted it to be from Namba Parks and Shinsaibashi. Nevertheless, it was great not having to drag all the stuffed luggages we had after 2 weeks of touring Japan and we only had to scoot to the next building to get on the bus to Kansai International Airport. (KIX).

The rooms were nice, well appointed and bigger than most rooms of the 5 previous hotels that we've stayed in on this trip. I'm just not convinced that paying almost twice the price for a room here was worth it. I think the next time I need to be in the Namba area, I'd prefer to book closer to where the action is.

It is worth mentioning that the staff at the reception were very helpful but, were all business. While that may appeal to some people, I personally would want to deal with someone who exudes more warmth, like in most other hotels I've stayed at on this trip.

For those who might be considering this place, there is indeed a supermarket at the basement beside the Grasmere that sells a great variety of good breads/pastries and prepared meals. There also is a lot of other food choices in nearby Namba Walk which is under and runs the length of Sennichimae dori (the street in front of Grasmere).

Hope this helps.

Room Tip: Since the hotel is on the 22nd floor and up of a building, I assumed that all rooms would get a nice view. The room I got only had a sliver of a view of the city and mostly overlooked other rooms. Make sure to specify that you you want a room with a view.

Location is very good, just above JR-Namba train station, there is a big supermarket downstair where you can buy sushi, drinks, etc. 10mnt walk to Dotonbori area (food-ramen, shopping, entertainment). However, slight inconvinient is you have to change train from Osaka loop to get to JR-Namba station.
Hotel loby is located on level 22 and is very impressive with little chappel at the back. Hotel Staff are very friendly and helpfull, not sure why other reviews said the stuff were rude. We arrived in Osaka early morning and the hotel staff took care of our lugage eventhough we couldnt check in yet. We booked in for the tripple room and was upgraded to superior room. The room was spacious with 2 toilet which was very handy. Room and toilet looks new, heated toilet seat which was awesome The beds are comfortable.
Only minor thing I add would be to add fragance in the room to give it a fresh smell.
Overall, I am very happy with our stay and would definetly come back.
