Owner description: Formally the home of the wife of 16th-century Japanese ruler Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the 15-acre Nishinomaru Garden is one of Osaka's most beloved cherry blossom viewing spots, with the Osaka Castle Tower enhancing the backdrop.

Visited the castle at the end of autumn. The orange, red and yellow leaves really set off the castle. Although it has had to be rebuilt it still has an 'old' feel about it. Good views from the 5th? floor and interesting historical artifacts. The gardens beside the castle were lovely. They were being set up for a winter lights spectacular- Sorry I didn't get to see them but I'm sure you can see them from space.
I enjoyed my visit and went on to Peace Osaka from here.
Look out for guides at the castle, they are very helpful and obliging.

We visited Osaka Castle with our Japanese friend, on the way going through the park and the atmosphere was just amazing! There was ten-odd music bands, as you walked down the path you got to hear different genres of music and some awesome musicians.
The cherry blossoms were falling, there were families having picnics and even entertainers!

The ground of the park is really beautiful. The castle is magnificent. However, if you don't know much about Japanese history, it it not necessary to enter the castle. It may be too boring for you...
Take a photo with the castle is good enough

We spent hours in the castle precinct, taking a multitude of photographs that captured the incredible autumn colours on offer in November. The castle itself is beautiful and definitely a must-see when you're in Osaka.

Not sure why TripAdvisor separates the park and the castle for reviews. The castle itself is stunning - yes it's a replica, with elevator and snack stand on the first level, but it is still stunning from the outside. And the view of the park and Osaka from the top of the castle is wonderful (and cooler on a hot day). The view gives you a better sense of the whole castle/moat complex. On one floor of the castle there is also a very good model of the castle and surrounds at the height of its development; it gives you a much better appreciation for how it looked and operated then. The surrounding park grounds and moat are beautiful and worth walking around or sitting on one of the benches and observing.
