we stayed in Hotel Vista for 7 nights in Dec 2011, its a definite choice if you are travelling to Osaka. In terms of budget its very reasonable, around 10 mins walk from Namba station, and just cross the road you will see the bridge, where you will get a lot of good food (yum!) by the river. the small side streets seems a little unsafe at midnight but bear in mind there is a police station just opposite the hotel and there are still a lot of people at every hour of the day (even at 6am). the washroom is a highlight of the hotel, there is a very decent bath tub and the whole room is more than spacious in Japanese standards. i can't explain how good this hotel is, in terms of location/price/room size... excellent in all aspects!

Nice and modern hotel, in a very interesting area. The name of the hotel describes the room we had: a very good view. There in a glass panel in the bathroom, so you could have a bath while you see the room and even the view from the window. Amazing extra. The location is perfect. I would recommend.

Great location, great prices, great room, great toilet, totally awesome place to stay.

First off, the location, right smack in the heart of food central. No lack of places to eat here, okay, the small side streets just off the hotel miiiggght seem a little dodgy but it's still safe here. Train stations are within easy walking distance and lots of shopping to do down at Ebisubashi or Shinsaibashi, both again, within easy walking distance. Even dendentown and amerika-mura is within reach on foot. Just go out shop and head back to the hotel to drop off your bags before heading out for dinner.

Rooms are big (for japan), clean and very comfortable. Toilets are big and full sized which is rare for Japan. No complaints at all. Except for the lack of a view which is just nit-picking.

We opted not to go with the hotel breakfast as there are just soo many eating joints around you. We did not interact with the service staff much except for check-in/out so can't really comment on the service levels. But nothing rude or any of the sort.

Would i stay here again if i was in Osaka? Sure would. No regrets at all.

The walk to the station that brings you back to Kansai airport is slightly further than the regular stations but since you'd probably only do it once or at most twice, is still ok.

Hotel is nice and modern , located in the middle of Dotonbori with lots to do right at its door step. Rooms are large (for Japan & this price) well appointed with a decent sized desk/work area. Staff were friendly and helpful.

What can we say - what a location! Right in center of the entertainment district of Osaka (Dotonbori). hundreds of restaurant, clubs, bars, shops and pretty people.
Normally, you may think that such areas are rough or perhaps slightly dangerous.... but not in japan, and certainly not in this amazing city. you can do everything by foot, just walk along the streets that cross the hotels and you are in a middle of an oasis or neon lights and exotic smells of good food and perfumes.
the hotel itself is very nice (except the lack of wifi, like the rest of japan). nice service, room and free internet station at the lobby.

Generally speaking, I'm rarely impressed by an hotel bedroom, even more so in Japan.
This said, I was really surprised by this hotel. Modern, newly refurbished, the bedroom was spacious, comfy, and the bed was almost king size.
The bathroom was also quite large, and overall the place felt really quite, even though you're in the middle of the gaming district.
Plus, it was really cheap, considering the level of service provided.

I would really recommend this hotel, however there might be a little catch here: the location.
Namba is not the most glamourous area of Osaka, to say the least. It's fool of gambling houses, hostess bars and the like. Depending on who you travel with, that might be a deal-breaker.
However, it is also a very lively, exciting area, with lots of excellent, cheap restaurants (i.e around 400/500 Yen for lunch or dinner).
even if you don't gamble (pachinko halls are literally all over the place), the area is worth a look for its particular atmosphere.

Room Tip: Higher floors (starting at 8th floor) are quieter

This hotel ticks every box. It's a 10 minute walk from Namba station, right near Dotombori and Ebusibashi, new and stylish, spotless rooms, spacious and oh so quiet. It was hard to believe other guests were in the hotel our room was so quiet!!! Great western style beds and pillows and a roomy bathroom. The front desk staff all spoke English and for $160 AU a night it's well priced. Only sour point is the wifi is only in the lobby. Otherwise this is a winner.
