This is a chain hotel. This is a business hotel. This is an average hotel. If you look for something cheap (~6000 yens/night for semi-double room), with okay location (one station away from Namba, or 15 minutes walk from Namba station where you can take the Airport shuttle, JR or Subway), full set of amenities, and with breakfast (simple western and japanese styles), go for this.

Though it's not located exactly in big stations such as Nanba, Shinsaibashi, or Umeda, you can reach any places easily as it was located right next to subway or railway Hankyu line station Sakurawaga. There're many local restaurants nearby with good quality. Best of all you seldom see any tourists in these restaurants. This met my criteria in choosing restaurants in an unfamiliar place, that is with many local people eating in, but few tourists. Saw a spa house named 'Spadio' on the way to the Nanba station. I didn't have the chance to give it a try but it looks like a good & interesting place to go after whole day tiring walk.

The hotel amenities were good. I used all of them even the face soap. In the lobby it got printed maps of subway stations and nearby restaurants, coffee machine and computers that you can use without limit. The room also got LAN, but no wi-fi.

The room is typical business hotel size in Japan, small but adequate. We booked a smoking room, and it did got quite a big smoking smell when we first entered the room. Don't book smoking room if you're non-smoker. The room was pretty clean except the shower curtain that looked a bit filthy.

I don't mind staying with Smile Hotel again, though I believe there're many other choices with similar price range in even more convenience location such as Namba.
