Reviewed November 5, 2012

For 3 successive years since 2010 in pursuit of "koyo"(autumn foliage), I have stayed in this hotel and i have always been happy with my stay. The location is perfect. The service is great. And most of all, it's good value for money.

My Husband and I stayed in Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo whilst in Japan. When looking for the best hotels we had three requirements 1. Must be in a central / safe location 2. Good Value $$ and Clean 3. Comfortable beds & pillows. If all of these boxes are ticked it doesn't phase me if the rooms are tiny etc, Hearton Hotel ticked all of these boxes. This hotel is divided into two buildings, on arrival we entered the one next to the 'Planet 3rd' cafe, we were greeted by the smell of stale cigarettes so we were happy when we were asked to make our way to the main building directly opposite. When we entered the main building it nice and fresh and the staff were very friendly.

The Hearton Hotel is within close proximity to the Dotonbori district where the famous 'Glico' sign is as well as the Shinsaibashi Shopping Arcade, a long stretch of never ending shops and restaurants (so it seems). You'll never go hungry with the amount of restaurants around. We ventured further past Dotonbori near Nanba and found an amazing Tepanyaki Restaurant. Osaka is a vibrant city and I wish we'd planned to stay longer!

If you're only looking for somewhere comfortable and clean to crash after a massive day of exploring, eating and shopping then this is it.

Must Sees:

Glico Sign
Tombori Riverwalk
Osaka Castle Park
Umeda Sky Building

Room Tip: If you are a non-smoker I would recommend specifying you require a non-smoking room.

The rooms are a bit dated and small, even by Japanese standards. But considering the location and how cheap rooms are, it is fantastic.

just make sure you bring a map with it marked. The streets around Shinbashi are confusing and there are no large signs to show where it is.

Arrived at shinsaibashi stn exit 7 and no matter you take a left or right turn.. As long as you saw a statue of liberty on top of the building.. Hearton hotel is around there...!

Staff very friendly and able to speak simple English is not a problem for them.

The room fit perfectly for Asian, so is quite okay for me. Location very strategic and worth to stay.

Clean, soooo central and good value. Kind of a weird way of doing it but Japanesely the hotel is in three different buildings. Which is probably why they had room for us on a long weekend.

Not gonna blow anyone away but yeah, a standard Japanese hotel with really good location and price. Oh and a 12 o'clock checkout for the lie in. Top drawer.

Room Tip: All are good

My husband and I just recently stayed at this hotel, and we found it to be very pleasant. It is one street away from the Shinsaibashi covered promenade, shopping central, and only a few minutes away from the famous Glico billboard. It is around the corner from the Shibsaibashi subway stop (exit 7 as many previous reviewers have stated).

We can speak minimal Japanese, so we had no issues with the front desk, but can see how individuals with no Japanese speaking abilities may have some difficulty engaging in conversations with the front desk. However, they were always kind and helpful.

The rooms are small, yet this was to be expected in a city area of Japan. So if you want to stay in a spacious room---look elsewhere. This is a compact room with pretty much everything you need to get by--- a bed, a bathroom, a bathtub, a tv, and a internet cable for your laptop. Yes, and the internet is free if you bring your laptop. So I highly suggest you do so, if you want to stay connected.

The one thing I must mention about this place is that although it’s right in the middle of the city, I got the best sleep here. There was minimal to no noise from the outside, and I did not even hear much noise from fellow neighboring guests. It truly felt like we were the only ones there. The only reason why I know we weren’t is that we bumped into other hotel guests in the elevators.

Lastly, if you are flying into Kansai, I highly suggest you take the Limosuine Bus to Namba-OCAT station (approximately $10 per person), and then take a taxi from Namba-OCAT station to the hotel (approximately $7 for two individuals with luggage).
