Mielparque Osaka
Ranked #117 of 322 Hotels / Ryokan in Osaka
Reviewed December 9, 2013

Mielparque Hotel located in Shin-Osaka, where is full with offices buildings, so there is nothing entertaining at night, not like Umeda or Nanba, usually we went back to hotel after 10:30 pm only for sleeping.
However, the traffic is convenient, the hotel is just 500 meters from Shin-Osaka Station, which you can take high-speed railway(Shinkansen), railway(JR) or subway, especially the subway is Midosuji Line, straight to Umeda or Nanba without transfering. It's easy to get to the KIX airport also.
The room is small, and the equipments are not fancy, but the price was astonishing low, even less than half prices of some 3-stars hotels in downtown. The receptionists are friendly, but don't speak very good English, looks like they do business with locals more often.

the single room is really small. but i liked it
the room design is like 30 years ago and never renew it, but i liked there is a small function on the bed frame, there is a small button that you can click on it and play some blue/jazz bgm. it feel nice that everytime you enter the room after an exhausted day.

the environment around the hotel is superb. even though it is so near to shinosaka station but you can barely see cars on the road.

Book the Japanese room with tanami mats , its large and spacious but you sleep on the floor ( with thick mattress and comfortable blackets ,of course ).At below yen 9000 per night (USD90 ) its worth it . Room is clean , n staff do speak english. Free Wifi available .But , do not get confuse , this hotel is located in SHIN OSAKA ( last stop for the Shinkansen bullet train ) The actual city centre is OSAKA about 10 minutes train ride from shin osaka station . Not much attraction or shopping in the area .Food........no problem , Starbucks and Subway Restaurant is in front of the Hotel.

Room Tip: Book the Japanese room , same price with a normal standard double room.

Room is small, ok so we didn't get the room to lounge in it all day so it really didn't matter. The only way it could be a problem is if you had 2/3 large cases and yourselves.

We based ourselves here to explore Kyoto .. A quick 15 min ride away by Shinkansen. The hotel is only about a 10 min walk from shin-Osaka jr station.

Be aware though ... Even if you select a non- smoking room you can/will still get a room that a smoker has used before you. They don't seem to have designated non-smoking rooms.

Ok the beds are HARD .. And it is very difficult to get an extra quilt/duvet .. Impossible actually so using that for extra padding is not an option. There was a few stains on the bed base and I don't think the room had a deep clean in awhile as there was a lot of built up dust in the corners and around all the carpet edges. That aside .. We stayed here because of the prices ... Cheap.

There is no laundry on site. Internet is free with a LAN cable. Wifi is in the lobby only.

Bathroom is compact .. Yea fancy word for small but it had all you needed .. Oh .. Apart from a power point. There was only 1 power point in the room .. On top of the small desk come tv cabinet it had a plug it that you could plug in 3 things though.

Shower water pressure was great .. Best we have had in awhile.

The only other things to be aware of is it is in the flight path of Osaka airport .. Although we were never bothered by the planes at night and we are light sleepers. Our daughter had room 824 which faced the street and she could hear the crossing signals at the traffic lights while our room was 727 which was on the inside of the corridor. I would suggest to ask to be away from the elevators if the ding of them could annoy as it was quite loud. With all that I just said we actually never heard any noise in the halls or rooms of other guests moving around.

Room Tip: get a room on the inside not with a window facing the street.

My partner and I stayed here for 7 nights while traveling around the Kansai region. At first it was a bit difficult to find as Shin-Osaka is a massive subway/JR station bit once you find the correct exit, then it shouldn't take longer than 10 minutes to walk to the hotel. Be sure to use exit 4 when exiting/entering the Midosuji subway line and use exit 6 for the JR lines.

The hotel was clean albeit dated but considering that we spent very little time within the rooms and the building itself, it didn't really bother us. The main thing is that the bathrooms are tiny and the ceiling is low (total area is probably about 2 x 2 square meters, with less than 1 square meter of empty floor space) so it may be a bit uncomfortable to use for very tall/big people. The staff also only speak limited English so some knowledge of basic Japanese is recommended. Nevertheless, I would recommend this hotel for those looking for good value for money in a convenient location.

Near Shin-Osaka Station and convenient to Midosuji Subway line as well. Hotel looks a bid dated externally and the rooms could use some freshening up. It is a hotel of good standard and aimed more so at the domestic crowd. No international channels on TV but spending time in the hotel when in Osaka would be a shame.

Front staff were very helpful and english is not a problem.
