“Great value for money !!”
Reviewed November 13, 2009

We traveled in a group of 4 ( Myself, wife, 10 yo & 8 yo ) & stayed there for 3 nights. We found that previous reviews were accurate. Location is easily accessible, from either north or south of town. When we arrived, we took taxi from JR Namba (OCAT) station, which was only 1400 yen. Took day trips to Kyoto & Himeji with shinkansen trains, and Shin-Osaka station is only a few minutes away using Midosuji line. We booked 2 rooms though the hotel website, and using separate names we got 1000 yen discount each. Yes, they're small but very, very clean. Breakfast simple but more than enough to last us ( including the kids ) until lunch. Wired internet in the room is free, or otherwise utilise the PCs downstairs. The hotel staffs were very helpful, wrote notes in Japanese characters, so we can order food according our requirements. They also arrange takyubin service to our next hotel in Tokyo.

The Arietta is a little secret gem. The room was big in Japanese standards, the bathroom was amazing. Everything was clean and tidy and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
It isn't a five star luxury hotel but simple and comfortable. We stayed in a Twin Superior room and it had space for our luggage which was two suitcases and carry-ons. Other Japanese hotel rooms barely had space for one case.
Breakfast described on some sites as breads and tea/coffee. Doesn't sound like much but in reality, it was very good. It is served in the lobby area and consists of fruit, yoghurt and cereal, bread for toasting and margarine and jams were provided, some pastries, and a variety of teas and coffee. Plenty for a good start to the day's adventure. The room has a mini fridge for you to store juice and milk if you need to. There is a jug to boil water. Nearby are a couple of small marts for basic needs. As well as good restaurants and bars.
The hotel is situated near subway access though we suggest a taxi if you are arriving from either Osaka or Namba stations. Subways always involve some stairs to drag your luggage up and down.
We only had a couple of days in Osaka, but we would definitely come back to stay at the Arietta again next time.

Booked this hotel on the basis of previous reviews and affordable price for a city centre hotel. The hotel is easily found just a couple of minutes from Hommachi subway station in a business part of the city. Although it is not in the main tourist area it is quite central but quiet at night. There is no restaurant in the hotel at present but there are plenty of reasonable restaurants in the area including an excellent Indonesian one a couple of blocks away.

The reception staff were invariably polite and friendly, and always had our room key ready for us witout our having to tell them our room number. The rooms were very adequate and as previously mentioned spotlessly clean with a fresh basket of towels, night gown, razor, toothbrush and paste etc every day. Only criticisms would be that storage space in the room was quite limited, with only two shallow drawers, and a small wardrobe / hanging space with one high shelf. The televison had only Japanese channels (no CNN etc - hooray!) but that didn't bother us.

Breakfast was included and consisted of fruit juice, yoghurt, cereal, coffee, bananas, and choice of several types of bread with margarine and jam. There are three computers available for guest use with free internet access.

There are vending machines on three of the fourteen floors selling soft drinks, beer and fruit flavoured sake drinks. There are coin operated washing machines and tumble driers available as well, and free ice dispensers. For the price I would say this represented to me excellent value for money, and I would highly recommend this hotel.

It's taken me a while to get down to writing reviews of my trip last year but this one I remember well as the staff were friendly, even trying to converse in english (although he started sweating profusely after a while - poor chap! haha). The room is cosy (slightly larger than average for Japanese standards - mind you I have stayed in some hotels in Japan no longer than my 6 foot tall body!) The bathroom was large with pump type soap/shampoo/conditioner and a huge showerhead. Free 'pan' breakfast in the morning although I did get a bit sick of eating so much bread after the 4th day but there are so many other things to eat in Osaka it really isn't necessary eating the breakfast here everyday. Short stroll to the subway and everything Osaka has to offer. This was my favourite Osaka Hotel stay by far. The worst was staying in the transit Hotel Nikko at Kansai International - Horrid racist front desk staff (this was at a time when there was a bit of a war of words between the Chinese and Japanese but I'm not even from China!) I'll write a proper review for Hotel Nikko after this. Anyway, I do recommend the Arietta Hotel, it was special.

We took a chance with this hotel based on the limited English reviews on Tripadvisor. Due to poor planning, we arrived in Japan on Golden Week, where by all the hotel prices sky rocket during that period. After extensive researching comparing various reviews, we decided to bite the bullet and book this hotel as the prices were reasonable for our budget. This was one of the 3 hotels we stayed in while we were in Osaka. Surprisingly, There isn't a lot of online travel resources for Japan in English. (please contact me if you need info on the Kansai region)

We only managed to book a Single Deluxe room for 2 people at a rate of 13,000Yen per night. The room itself is quite small. There was a double bed, a dressing table and tv, a small table and 2 chairs. There was only enough room for one person to walk around the room at one time. It was clean, or should i say, spotless and a minimalist design. There isn't much room to store your luggage but it wasn't a problem for us as we only had two backpacks. There were two baskets on the bed when we arrived and it contained towels, toiletries and a bathrobe which I thought was kind of cute. The toilet/bathroom was more than expected. Again, this was completely spotless. There was a large tub and nice shower, the usual Japanese high tech western style toilet which does everything you could ask for whilst sitting on the loo except hand you a magazine!

Reception was very friendly and the staff had reasonable command of English. We arrived on an early morning flight but were not allowed to check in until 2pm, which is pretty standard in Japan,I think. There is a lift, free internet access, vending machines and umbrellas for loan. The restaurant was closed for some reason during our stay.

The location is pretty good (Take Exit 1 rather than 3 when exiting the Hommachi station, take a left and walk straight ahead). While it is not in the middle of the tourist district, it is only a few minutes walk from Hommachi Station. Staying anywhere along the Midosuji line (red) is pretty convenient. A taxi ride from the nearby tourist districts such as Umeda and Namba only costs around 1000 yen. It seems to be located in a business district and there are plenty of restaurants in that area. However, most of these restaurants cater for the local working people and therefore, won't carry an English menu. It was not a problem for us as we are pretty adventurous when it comes to food! There is a unagi place located between the station and the hotel which served decent unagi.

Overall, I would highly recommend this place for travellers on a medium budget. For higher end accomodation options in Osaka, consider Swiss Hotel or Crowne Plaza (reviews to follow).

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and I must say the hotel is very nice. It is not easy to find, but you can reach the next subway station Honmachi just 3 mins by walk. It is very convenience, just 2 station away from Umeda, and few stations to Osaka Castle.

The rooms are very tidy & cozy and everything was very clean, they also have 3 computers in the lobby where you can have access to the internet for free.

The staff are also very helpful, and the breakfast was also ok. But it could be much more better if they can provide a boiled egg for breakfast ; )

this place is an hidden gem!
the hotel is beautiful, really affordable reates, superb location with excellent metro connection with all you-have-to-see in Osaka.

The rooms are, compared to Japanese standard, wide and cozy with all the amenities you may need.

Breakfast is included in the room-rate and served in the morning in the main hall.
[I didn't tried the Arietta Restaurant but it seemed good to me which I'm Italian :-) ]
