“Clean hotel in wonderful location”
Reviewed October 18, 2008

Stayed in a deluxe double room for one night as part of a package trip to Osaka. I live in Japan and booked the airfare and hotel stay package through a major Japanese travel agent. It was so cheap that it cost only the airline's internet special airfare cost; in effect the hotel was 'free'. However, the hotel's rates are very reasonable, about 11,000yen per double room.

The hotel is extremely centrally located-- minutes away from the shopping paradise of Shinsaibashi, mere seconds from two separate subway stations and in the middle of a great area with many wonderful restaurants, cafes and interesting boutiques. Osaka is one of my favourite Japanese cities for the sheer energy it exudes, and the hotel is situated amongst that energy.

The room itself was clean; however, it is very, very small. I think about 17square metres. However, this is standard for Japanese business hotels of this price bracket, so we knew to expect this. The double room featured a neat little alcove with tatami and flat-screen TV (local channels only), with, if my memory serves me right, a DVD player. High-speed internet is free. Although small, the room was extremely well-designed, with every inch of the place well-thought about. The area next to the bed magically turns into a work area, and the little tatami TV area gives the feel of a larger living space. Hotel services like housekeeping, wake-up call and tea/coffee facilities were also available.

The bathroom is a typical Japanese business hotel bathroom, but exceptionally clean, with Shiseido shampoo and body soap supplied. Toothbrush and toothpaste also supplied. The room also has a hairdryer.

Breakfast was included in our stay, taken at the "Freshness Burger" (a Japanese chain) restaurant on the ground floor. You could choose from toast or pancakes, plus egg and salad, plus refillable drinks (coffee, tea, juice). If your room rate does not include breakfast, never mind-- it only costs about 600yen.

As the other reviewer mentioned, the downfall of this hotel is its strict check-in/check-out times. However, if you arrive early/depart late, they will happily store your luggage for you.

All in all, I was very happy with this hotel. The location is fabulous, and it offers extremely good value for money. Would definitely recommend!

It's nonsense that Japan is SO expensive, because it's easy to find very good and low cost hotels in Osaka. I discovered the Nishitetsu Inn, which is part of a chain of budget Japanese hotels and I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting very convenient and centrally located accomodation in Osaka. The hotel is located right in Osaka's Shinsaibashi area, which is part of the Namba area, where most of the entertainment venues, clubs and good shopping districts are. I was within walking distance of everything! The subway station is just one block walk away, Starbucks just around the block, Rock Rock rock 'n' roll bar is just a stone's throw away and is popular hang-out for all famous bands playing in Osaka. There are lovely shops and cafes in the area and the main department stores are five minutes walk across the main road. The hotel rooms in Japan are small anyway, so don't expect big bathrooms or a huge amount of space to walk around in the rooms here, but they are cosy and very clean. I had a single room, with double bed, work desk, free teas, toiletries, toothbrushes, hairbrushes and razors are all complimentary and maid service is daily if required. The bath tubs were really deep and of course, they have the traditional Japanese "washlet" toilets which have built-in bidets! The only thing with these hotels is that check-in time is 3.00pm and check-out is early at 10,00am, but 11.00am check-out is okay free of charge if you ask when you check-in. The staff here are very friendly and speak English. I will look forward to going back and rooms are from 6,000 Yen (under $50 a night!)
and I booked on a website and got the room for 5,800 Yen a night, so it worked out as around 24 British pounds a night and we wouldn't even get a hostel room in the UK for that price!

  • Liked — Good for the low price and very good location
