A bit difficult to find, as other travellers have said, but once you do a great little hotel at a good price. Everything you need, fridge in room, washing machines and dryers on level 2. Microwave also there if you need it. Lots of local shops to purchase drinks/food. Free internet in reception or in your room if you have your laptop. Safety deposit boxes at front desk. Tea making facilities. Easy access to all trains. communial pool/hot tub also free. No hidden extras at all.

It is not near the Shin-Osaka station but is one subway stop away at Nishinakajima-Minamigata station. Exit 2, turn right to cross the traffic light and you will see Lawson market. Turn right again and left and walk straight for 2mins alongside the railway track.
Besides being near the subway station, it is also near the Hankyu railway line. Pretty convenient if you want to go to the Minoh Park/Waterfall.
Room is very small! We had the twin room but had to place our luggages at the walk way in between our beds. In the morning, we had to lock our luggages and propped them right back up so that the chambermaid would have room to walk about and made our beds.
Bathroom is really tiny and I swear I heard creaking noises from the bathroom intermittently in the middle of the night. Pretty disturbing but I couldn't be bothered much on the second and third nights and slept through it.
One pretty good thing was the free internet access at their lobby area. There are three PCs which you could use without charge.

Hotel Claiton is an excellent hotel in the Shin Osaka Area. To clear the obvious out of the way; no, it's not in a touristy area. With that being said, you will not pay the touristy price and you will get a boat load of extras for what you're paying for.

The Pros:
- Helpful staff [english is limited, but they do help the best they can]
- Extremely efficient room service
- Expansive Western/Japanese breakfast buffet
- Onsen area [showers, indoor/outdoor jacuzzi mineral tub and sauna]
- A few blocks away from Nishinakajima Train Station [easy access using the Midosuji or Hankyu Lines]
- Extremely quiet
- Inexpensive [Even with the American dollar, our 2 1/2 week stay was under 1200; breakfast was free].
- If your are adventurous and hate tourist traps, the Nishinakajima area is pulsing with life, mini cafes, arcades and jazz bars.

The Cons:
- Hard to find if you do not know the language [Easier instructions; Walk west from the train station [if you see a Lawson''s Market, you're in track] and make a right at the Family Mart convenience store. Can't miss it.]
- Room is small. My partner is 6'3 and I am 5'8. We are not over weight and a Semi double was doable but small. If you are on the larger side or have more than two people, you might want to get a double or their deluxe rooms.
- Pillows...strange I know, but the pillows have beans in them for head support. If you are a pillow junky like my, you may want to ask for a second set or bring you're own. The are not the most comfortable thing in the world, but two of them makes sleeping bearable.

All in all, the good outweighs the bad and you're not getting priced gouged for being in Umeda, Namba, or Shinsaibashi. It's a clean, quiet business hotel and it's spot on for the frugal traveler.

there were some places that i wanted to go but i couldn't find the directions on the internet. the reception staff were very patient, trying to interpret the destinations from my broken japanese and drawings. they did their best to help me, and i really appreciate it. eventually, we found the locations but they were too far away from osaka. nonetheless, the staff recommended some places for me to go. also, i ask questions at night, and i often walk to lawson at 1am kind of timing. no matter how late, the staff are always there :)

when i first got my single-room key, i was surprised because i was going to stay at the top floor. the room has a cigarette smell but nothing to complain about, biz hotels in japan usually allow smoking. the smell wasn't strong, i was able to sleep well for 4 nights. i think the room is neither spacious nor cramped.

i had trouble finding the location because i couldnt see the hotel sign, so i passed by the hotel a few times.

i like the location because convenience stores, subway and restaurants are nearby. less than a minute walk to convenience store - lawson, i think. 5 minutes walk to subway and restaurants. excellent service. nothing that i dislike :)
