Hearton Hotel Nishi Umeda
Ranked #49 of 333 Hotels / Ryokan in Osaka
Reviewed October 5, 2013

Stayed here for 2 nights because of the convenience of being in Osaka. I wanted to go to Kyoto and Kobe during my stay and Osaka is right smack in the middle. Hearton is right next to Osaka station - which made it quite an easy choice. There are other hotels nearby but i find them quite expensive.

It's actually easy to get to the hotel once you know the way, as there is a path almost right in-front of the hotel that leads directly to Osaka station. It's not obvious though if you're coming from the station.

I guess for first timers you'd have to ask for a little bit of direction - but from the station it's a straight walk to the hotel entrance. You don't even have to go to the underground connectors (which i did, thankfully they had hotel directions from there).

From the hotel going to the station, the way becomes all too obvious.

The hotel itself is quite nice with rooms that are clean and well equipped. The room size is typically small as with other hotel rooms in Japan. The bathroom on the other hand is spacious and is well stocked.

Don't worry about noise coming from the nearby trains - they've got good soundproofing but to be sure, request for rooms at higher floors.

Their staff are very friendly and polite. And i think most of them can speak English just fine. I reached Osaka at almost 12 midnight. Thankfully they have staff at the reception 24-hours a day, so it was no trouble at all.

In the next mornings i took breakfast at the cafe on their first floor. They served a nice set of both Western and Japanese selections.

They also had vending machines and free ice dispensers at the floor i was in. This is especially helpful as there weren't any nearby convenience stores that remain open late through the night. The nearest one i found still open around 1 AM was a Family Mart, which isn't exactly near. Actually, there aren't much nearby except for the station and other hotels. The night-life, local restaurants and shopping areas (discounting the malls which tend to be westernized) are actually on the other side of the trains' railway (or several blocks away).

However, because of it's convenience of sitting right next to the JR station - it's quite accessible to the nearby cities particularly Kyoto (and for my sake, Kobe).

btw, the JR Station itself is quite big and active with an attached mall.

Spent a night in this hotel. It was nice and clean but had not much to do around it besides maybe to shop in the train station. The hotel is very close to the train station and I was concerned about the noise from the trains coming and going but eventually it was not an issue.

This hotel met our expectations, given its fairly low price. The rooms are large and have Internet. They are beginning to look a tad dated and rough around the edges (as is the hotel generally) but the cleanliness is absolutely fine, so no complaints.
We chose this hotel as we needed to be near the station. In this respect, it is excellent. It is 2 mins walk from the station and most of the route is undercover via an arcade of food shops. This is handy as it rained a lot during our trip. Also the station area is very nice, near to the Hilton Plaza and high end hotels such as Ritz Carlton so not a bad choice even if you don't need rail access.
Please note also that whilst the hotel is right next to the railway line, we didn't hear any noise and rooms appear to be double glazed.
Reception staff spoke limited English and were not particularly helpful when we tried to eat in the restaurant as it was torrential rain outside, only to be told that they were closing in 50 mins and so they couldn't serve us any food; which seemed a little excessive given we wanted a sandwich. However in a business / station hotel you shouldn't need too much assistance, so this is not a huge negative.
Overall, this hotel is fine and useful for people, like ourselves, passing through Osaka on way to Kansai airport.

Locate near Osaka JR station. Easy to access among shops and restaurants in walking distance from the hotel.

Staffs are nice but somehow they are not good in English.
Room is not that small but quite small for tripple.
Bathroom is small as the standard of medium hotel in Japan.
Amentities are good. Hair dryer available. There is bath tub and shower. Temparature of water is exactly as you adjust!
Vending machine of drinks is in the room floor. Ice machine also available.
TV and Wifi are good and free in the room.
Trouser iron machine available!
Bed and pillow are good.

Elevator for disability person is provide.(Most of places in Japan are friendly to disability person)

Near JR and subway station.
Nearest airport limousine bus is HERBIS stop. Pick the limousine bus from KIX bus stop number 5 head to Osaka station. You can tell the staff at the bus stop of airport that you will go to HERBIS stop.

I think the best thing about Hearton Hotel Nishi Umeda is its close proximity to Osaka Station, literally a 2 minute walk. There's also a small eatery hub nearby as well.

What makes it even better is that it's extremely cheap. I paid less than $70 USD/night and was very pleased.

The rooms are definitely small, but after staying at hotels in Tokyo, I got used to the small rooms and the prices are surely cheaper than its Tokyo counterparts.

Staff is friendly and can converse in English if needed.

We stayed their 5 nights and it was really convenient.

When I planned this trip, I was looking for a hotel that allows easy access to airport and other places around Osaka. After reading all the views, I decided to give it a shot. It was the right decision as it answered to all my needs. We took bus limousine to Herbis hotel which is the second stop. Facing outside the hotel, walk to the left, cross the street and follow that little street and cross the street again. You will see the Garden Cafe and the entrance of the hotel. There's a convenient store called 'Heart In', which located opposite the hotel. You can also see HAL building. The hotel is just behind it. If you have a lot of luggages, this is the best way to travel, it costs 1500 yen per person for an hour trip. You def walk less compared to traveling by train.

There are plenty of restaurant near by with all kinda of food. They understand English so it was really easy for us to order food. There are also lots of shopping malls near by as well. There are so many sweet shops under Osaka station. The cakes were really delicious!

We went to Kobe, Kyoto and Nara with a direct train from Osaka station. It was easy to buy the tickets from the machine. If you are struggling, the staff are very helpful as well. There's also money exchanger inside the station as well. The hotel is located on Sakurabashi gate.

I would def come back here again if I go to Osaka. I would recommend it to family with lots of luggages and budget traveller who do not want to stay in a touristy area.
